Kallang Horizon, located along the Kallang River, is one of the highly sought-after new housing projects launched under the Prime Location Public Housing (PLH) model in HDB’s November 2022 Build-To-Order (BTO) exercise.

In this article, we will take an in-depth fengshui review on this upcoming BTO estate to assess its fengshui qualities and see what it has to offer beyond its prime location, eco-friendly features and accessibility to various facilities and amenities. Read on!

Note: The PLH model ensures that new public housing built in prime, central locations like the city centre and the Greater Southern Waterfront will remain affordable and accessible for Singaporeans. Learn more

Kallang Horizon: Landform fengshui

Kallang Horizon, bounded by Lorong 1 Geylang and the Kallang MRT station, is located in the precinct of Kallang and Whampoa. This BTO estate under the PLH model sits on the Southern Dragon and falls in the fengshui land formation of the “Five Snakes Battling a White Crocodile”.

Flowing from the Peirce Reservoir, Kallang River is the longest river in Singapore, and one of the Yang Dragons, from a fengshui perspective. Along with four other waterways, it formed the “Five Snakes Battling a White Crocodile” formation, with Kallang River being the most influential. Shaped like the mouth of a crocodile, the river belies fast-flowing undercurrents and dangers.

Although developments at Kallang River precede that of Singapore, competitions between the Five Snakes are distracting – which indicates slower progress in this area as well as for its residents. With the White Crocodile adding fuel to fire, developments are fraught with obstacles and delays and one can’t help but to wonder if there would be delays to the upcoming BTO estate.

Internal fengshui considerations

When it comes to choosing an ideal unit, keep in mind that the main orientation of a house will directly influence the overall luck of its residents. The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.

Kallang Horizon comprises 3 residential blocks ranging from 26 to 30 storeys with a choice of 477 units consisting of 3- and 4-room flats.

Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in the upcoming Periods 9 and 1 (years 2024 – 2063), and Northwest and Southeast are the second most auspicious directions.

The good news is most of the BTO units at Kallang Horizon face the above mentioned favourable directions. Aspiring homeowners planning to get a BTO unit here are advised to select a unit wisely. Here’s what we recommend:

North/Northwest facing units

Blk 7B – 112

Blk 7C – 134

South/Southeast facing units

Blk 7B – 114, 116, 118

Northwest-facing units

Blk 7A – 108, 110

Blk 7B – 120, 122

Southeast-facing units

Blk 7A – 104

Blk 7C – 128, 130

It is important to note that there is no fixed lucky direction that caters to everyone. If necessary, you can seek advice from a professional fengshui practitioner to help you create a harmonious environment in your new home.

Exterior fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a new home. It is always worthwhile to do a physical site visit prior to your property purchase.

In terms of accessibility and amenities, Kallang Horizon is undoubtedly in a prime location as it sits conveniently along Kallang River and right next to the Kallang MRT station. In fact, there’s a bus interchange within the development, which means convenience, albeit high human traffic.

Blockage amidst the crowded housing environment also means greater environmental noise that can be detrimental to health in the long run. To minimise being affected by Light Sha [光煞] and Sound Sha [声煞], homeowners may consider getting a unit on the higher floor and implement blinds or curtains, and soundproofing solutions.

A positive point is that none of the stacks at Kallang Horizon face each other directly, thereby eliminating the risks of conflicting energy. Higher floor units at certain stacks that are on the side of the Kallang MRT station may enjoy nice views of the Marina Bay or East Coast Park. Nonetheless, homeowners should be mindful of the reserved site for future high-rise commercial development.

Lower floor units of stacks that are located near or directly facing the multi-storey car park (MSCP) are likely to encounter Sound Sha [声煞] and Light Sha [光煞]. This could cause disturbances to daily life such as insomnia. Hence, those who choose a lower-storey unit that faces the car park (i.e. Stacks 104, 105, 108, 116 and 118) are advised to install a window blind.

Did you know?

Some people think that it is a fengshui taboo if their windows in the living area are bigger than their main entrance. In fact, these home configurations are increasingly common in new estates.

Before you start worrying, here’s the good news: while it is not recommended for homes in countries with four distinct seasons, having bigger windows in our tropical climate means better indoor ventilation, which is favourable!

However, it is best to avoid having the big window facing the main door directly. If they are directly aligned, the ability to accumulate wealth luck will be diminished as energy flows in and out easily.

If the features are fixed, you can remedy the situation by installing a room divider or avoid opening both the window and door at the same time. Displaying some plants at the window or having curtains or blinds can help too.

Which fengshui BTO units to choose in Kallang Horizon?

The prime location of Kallang Horizon makes it very attractive, but in space-constrained Singapore, this means that residents living in such locations are bound to be affected by lights, noises and potential conflict points from nearby buildings and busy roads.

As such, it is important to select a unit that is auspicious in the reigning luck cycle and suitable for your bazi. Selecting a fengshui unit can also help you to create a harmonious home, improve mood and energy, and attract opportunities and benefactors.

So, wait no further! Our masters will evaluate your units based on a four-point method, analysing the luck cycle, direction, Bazi suitability and missing sector to make your fengshui selection unit a breeze. Learn more here.
