Believed to be one of the popular housing projects in HDB’s May 2023 Build-To-Order (BTO) exercise, Serangoon North Vista is located conveniently near to Serangoon Gardens and Chomp Chomp Food Centre in the mature town. Its name references the surrounding views and the project’s prominent location, which sounds promising in terms of fengshui.

Serangoon North Vista: Landform fengshui

Bounded by Serangoon North Avenue 1 and Yio Chu Kang Road, Serangoon North Vista sits on the Eastern Dragon with the fengshui formation of “Lone Phoenix Heading for the Sun”.

Contrary to the Chinese name of Serangoon that translates as “dragon mound”, it is actually a Phoenix Land in the fengshui context. The red and slightly sticky soil of this area denotes powerful energies that make Serangoon an ideal place for residence. The Phoenix Land is capable of grooming talented females, and this is especially timely in the upcoming fengshui Period 9 that indicates rising power for middle-aged women.

Serangoon North Vista offers 5 residential blocks of 330 units in total, which are 12 storeys in height. Potential homeowners can choose from 4- and 5-room flats. 

Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in the upcoming Period 9 and Period 1 (years 2024 – 2063), and Northwest and Southeast are the second most auspicious directions.

However, the majority of stacks are orientated at the borderline of North/Northeast or South/Southwest, so do be careful when selecting a unit.

Exterior fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a new home. 

The convenient location of Serangoon North Vista in a mature estate makes it one of the popular BTO projects that people are eyeing. Aside from its proximity to various amenities such as the Chomp Chomp Food Centre, market, school etc., it is surrounded by a quiet landed enclave – which is plus for conducive living. 

Nevertheless, the BTO site is located next to a private property that is under construction, and across the road is another site that is reserved for future high-rise residential development. Those who plan to choose from Stack 614, 616, 628 and 630 along Serangoon North Ave 1 should pay attention to avoid or take measures to counter construction noises and conflicting energies (冲煞) during the development period. 

Within  Serangoon North Vista, some stacks are facing the 7-storey multi-storey car park (MSCP) directly. Note that lower floor units of stacks that are located near or directly face the MSCP may be subject to Sound Sha [声煞] and Light Sha [光煞]. This could cause disturbances to daily life such as insomnia. Those that are choosing a lower storey unit at Stack 602, 602, 654, 656 or 658 should take note. If affected, consider installing a window blind.

Nearby, there’s also the Japanese Cemetery Park and some stacks along Yio Chu Kang road may face the park. In case you are wondering, there is no taboo about staying near cemeteries. In fact, Chinese burial sites (in the past) were specially selected on land with excellent fengshui qualities, but do note that energies in an environment will change over time. 

As this BTO projects looks rather well-contained with some stacks facing each other directly, residents are advised to check for conflicting forces from neighbouring blocks, i.e. if the door or window of your unit faces the corner of a nearby building, it implies the Sharp Edge Sha (尖角煞). Such negative energy can result in increased anxiety and inability to concentrate, which may affect career and academic development. If in doubt, it is best to consult a professional fengshui practitioner.

A headboard represents stability and support in your life, especially your romantic relationships. Hence, a solid and smooth headboard (without perforations) made of natural materials is recommended. 

It is also best to leave these electronic devices out of your bedroom or hide them as best you can. If you already want to have a television in your room, you may want to consider placing it in an armoire or cover it neatly with a cloth when not in use.
