Bedok North Springs: Landform fengshui

Bounded by the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), Bedok North Street 3, and Bedok North Avenue 3, Bedok North Springs sits on the Eastern Dragon, and belongs to the favourable fengshui land formation known as “Golden Coins Falling to the Ground”, shaped by Bedok Reservoir – the symbolic source of wealth. This means that residents in Bedok are blessed with opportunities of windfall.

However, this formation is also accompanied with two tricky stars – namely the Tao Hua Romance and White Tiger stars – which underlie potential wealth loss. As such, one is advised to go by the book and stay down-to-earth.

Setting up a wealth basin at home under the care of the female owner (wife) shall help in retaining wealth. For greater home fengshui benefits, homeowners may consider displaying money plants at home to maintain the good flow of qi.

Internal fengshui considerations

When it comes to choosing an ideal unit, keep in mind that the main orientation of a house will directly influence the overall luck of its residents. The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can typically be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.

Bedok North Springs comprises 3 residential blocks that are 16 storeys high each. In total, there are 433 units of 2-room Flexi, 4- and 5-room flats. Its name references the spring season and the green spaces in this BTO project.

Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in the upcoming Period 9 and 1 (years 2024 – 2063), and Northwest and Southeast are the second most auspicious directions. It is recommended to choose a unit that faces either of these directions or lies at the border of these directions to tap on the positive energies.

We have categorised the units at Bedok North Springs under the Period 9 Auspicious Home Ranking chart, as listed below.

While all stacks face the most auspicious directions of Period 9, potential homeowners should note that there is no fixed lucky direction that caters to everyone. If in doubt, you may like to leave it to the professionals. Way Fengshui provides end-to-end fengshui services from selecting an ideal unit to helping you create a harmonious environment in your new home.

External fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a new home.

At Bedok North Springs, residents will enjoy the convenience of having the neighbourhood centre, multiple parks and schools nearby. Families with school-age children can consider schools in the town like Yu Neng Primary School, Red Swastika School, Damai Primary School, Fengshan Primary School, Bedok Green Secondary School, and Temasek Junior College.

In fact, this new BTO development will be right next to Yu Neng Primary School and across the road from Red Swastika School and Bedok Green Secondary School. While this spells convenience for the residents, it also means a more crowded housing environment, heavier traffic and potential Sha (conflicts).

Due to its proximity to the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) and Changi Airport, residents may also encounter excessive Sound Sha caused by traffic and from overhead planes. Unavoidable in Singapore’s concrete jungle, Sound Sha can increase stress and blood pressure levels. Worse still, it can even lead to insomnia. To counter this, homeowners are recommended to use soundproofing technology in one’s personal space, especially for bedrooms. Additionally, you can install thick curtains to reduce noise levels.

For those choosing their ideal fengshui home, it is best to avoid stacks that are in close proximity to the centralised refuse chute. This is because your home may be affected by the rubbish stench when the wind blows, especially if rubbish is not disposed of properly. If you are selecting a unit in one of these stacks, you must ensure that your front door does not face the refuse chute directly. If required, you may want to consult a professional fengshui practitioner for remedies to such a situation.

Last but not least, there is a 7-storey Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP) within Bedok North Springs. Some units (stack 1530, 1532, 1540, 1542, 1544, 1546) would inevitably be facing the MSCP directly, especially if your unit is on the lower storey (below 7 floor). This implies fengshui conflicting forces (煞气) such as noise pollution (噪音) and headlight flashes from moving cars. This could cause disturbances to daily life such as insomnia. To counter this, homeowners can consider installing a window blind.

Did you know?

There are usually places of worship in a mature town, and the same applies for Bedok. In fact, there’s a temple and church located a stone’s throw from Bedok North Springs. If you are concerned about staying near a temple or places of worship and wondering if there’s any fengshui implications, here’s our take:

Is it bad fengshui to stay near a temple or place of worship?

There’s a saying in fengshui that states that having a temple in front of the house indicates poverty; at the rear of the house indicates wealth; on the left and right of the house indicates widowhood.

Temples are where devotees gather and perform acts of worship, hence it will congregate a strong force of energy that may cause a qi imbalance to its surroundings. It is also believed that temples will attract spirits and ghosts, making the area unfavourable for long-term dwellers.

But WAIT!

Concluding the qi condition based on the temple alone is not an inclusive move. To evaluate the auspiciousness of an area, you need to consider factors like the house facing, distance from the temple, luck cycle of the residents etc. Moreover, with so many people staying together within the blocks, the yang energy gathered is strong enough to ward off the yin energy from the temple.

Hence, there is no definite answer as to whether the temple will cause negative influence to the fengshui of the residences. An on-site assessment for each unit is needed to determine the effects of the temple on the dwelling. If in doubt, you may want to consult a fengshui master.
