Some people swear by it, others see it as a marketing gimmick. Do fengshui items really work? There’s no scientific evidence to the benefits of displaying fengshui products, but as Sir Antoine de Saint Exupéry imparted, “what is essential is invisible to the eye”. Read on to clear doubts that you may have on decor items for fengshui, as well as the process of energisation and proper disposal of fengshui items.
Do fengshui items really work?
Maybe. Maybe not. It depends on how you think they work. Many people have the misconception that the simple act of placing an item at a particular position or facing a direction would miraculously bring them wealth, ensure health or great success. That’s not how fengshui works.

In ancient China, a sceptre is a symbol of authority, often associated with career progression. Positioning it in your study room can serve as a motivational source for one to strive on. When an item goes through energisation, energy is enhanced and a connection between the owner and the item is established. For example, in the case of crystals, minerals and gemstones, purifying and energising ensure each item emits resonating frequencies to aid the wearer.

2022 is known as the Year of the Five Yellow Star. This calls for extra caution as the Five Yellow Star occupies the Central Palace of each household. This refers to the centre of your home or office. As the Five Yellow Star is a major unlucky star, you don’t want to incur its wrath. Otherwise, sudden disasters, illnesses or accidents may befall you, your household members or colleagues.
Your best option is to mitigate the threats of Five Yellow Star. To do so, you should keep activities to a minimum in the Central Palace. Avoid hosting major celebrations or groundbreaking activities too. If need be, find an alternative venue for your event.
To stabilise your Central Palace, you can use Metal element items such as metal products and white or gold colours. You may also consider displaying Way Fengshui’s specially designed emblem, Guardian Stars, shaped with a circular ring to trap the Five Yellow within its frame, and prevent the negative influences from slipping into the other living spaces.

Disposal of fengshui items
When it comes to home fengshui, keeping the home tidy and free of clutter is essential. Over the years, one may have accumulate a certain number of fengshui items and we often encounter these question from our customers: “How do I dispose of a fengshui item?”, “Can we give it away?”.
Should you decide to give away or dispose of your item, it is necessary to de-energise [消持] it first to remove the connection established during the energisation [加持] as a form of respect. You may do so by placing your item in saltwater for 30 minutes.
If you find this to be a hassle, or are hesitant to de-energise your emblem, you may bring them to Way Fengshui lifestyle store (conveniently located in the Bugis precinct) and we will conduct the de-energisation [消持] for you before disposing of/recycling the item(s).
