Fengshui Review: The Rainforest
The Rainforest is located along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3, an area that I was once familiar with. It was my usual haunt during my NS days, as the nearby Stagmont Camp is where I stayed at. Come to think of it, that was more than 20 years ago.
At that time, whenever I pass by Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3, I got the feeling that better developments will come along for this area. Indeed, it is now the site of an executive condominium – The Rainforest. But personally, I feel that the development came a bit too late. Had it come earlier, this would have been a prosperous and lively district now.
Choa Chu Kang used to be a rural area of kampong villages and plantations. Its name was derived from Hokkien. “Choa” is the surname of the first plantation in-charge of the area; “Chu” refers to big houses; “Kang” means rivers. With this, we can deduce that the area used to be occupied by Choa families. Continual developments since the late 1970s have transformed Choa Chu Kang into a modern and self-sufficient town today.
Choa Chu Kang lies on the Central Dragon of Singapore and its dragon vein can be traced back to Kota Tinggi in Malaysia. Areas covered by this particular Dragon are Woodlands, Kranji, Mandai, Bukit Panjang, Bukit Timah, Tanglin, Orchard district, Fort Canning Hill, Singapore River and Marina Bay. Have you noticed? Most of these areas are high-end residential estates and prime business districts. Hence, I believe The Rainforest is a worthy investment choice that could bring great returns in the future.
Choa Chu Kang is where the Central Dragon and Western Dragon converge, making it an auspicious land with the feng shui formation “Homes of the Flying Swallows”. Being migratory birds, the swallows have regular seasonal movement. Thus, those staying on this Swallow Land shall have great opportunities to travel frequently. This is also a good region to produce or groom talents in the field of diplomats. Those who work in the political field shall enjoy favourable career luck too.
However, as swallows can also fly in different directions, couples may experience time away from each other due to work commitments. With that in mind, spouses must have strong faith in each other and always try to keep harmony in mind to maintain a stable and loving marriage. With regards to the residential feng shui layout in Choa Chu Kang area, “family harmony” is the primary factor that feng shui practitioners should consider.

The Rainforest is jointly developed by CDL and TID Pte Ltd. Its main entrance faces the Northeast, which is the auspicious direction in Period 8 (year 2004-2023). From the feng shui perspective, this is a good selling point!
As for the facing directions of the individual units, majority faces either the Northeast or Southwest. Both of which are favourable in Period 8. Judging from its exterior, most of the units at The Rainforest should be square-shaped without any missing corners. Within the site itself, there are no significant clashes that pose negative feng shui effects too. Hence, The Rainforest is definitely an ideal residence.
Furthermore, The Rainforest EC has a unique architectural design that comprises four terracing blocks. The forefront block (331) is 3-storey high, followed by blocks which are 6, 8, 14, 16 and 21-storey.This progressive design can allow the units to better garner the auspicious energy of Period 8, which could be the aim of the developers too.
Period 8 favours the Northeast and Southwest, thus The Rainforest is a good choice for house buyers during this period of time. But starting from year 2024, things will be different.
From the feng shui perspective, The Rainforest is still a worthwhile buy for short to mid-term investment. But if you seek long-term investment, do consider carefully.
