Wondering if Merpati Alcove could be your ideal fengshui home? Let’s take an in-depth fengshui review to see how it fares in terms of residential fengshui. Read on!
Merpati Alcove: Landform fengshui
Located next to Mattar MRT and along Merpati Road, Merpati Alcove sits on the Eastern Dragon within a fengshui land formation known as the “Five Horses Returning to the Manger”. Water and pastures are key components while the five horses may come from any direction to meet at a point. This formation is capable of enhancing one’s reputation, status and leadership qualities, as can be seen from the transformation of small enterprises to larger ones.
Buildings in this area are recommended to use blue glass and adopt blue and black colour schemes. To further boost the fengshui formation, residents can consider having water features in your home.
Internal fengshui considerations

When it comes to choosing an ideal unit, keep in mind that the main orientation of a house will directly influence the overall luck of its residents. The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can typically be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.
Merpati Alcove comprises two 18-storey residential blocks, with a total of 433 units of Community Care Apartments (CCA) and 4-room flats.
Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in Period 9 and 1 (years 2024 – 2063), and Northwest and Southeast are the second most auspicious directions. It is recommended to choose a unit that faces either of these directions or lies at the border of these directions to tap on the positive energies.
We have categorised the units at Merpati Alcove under the Period 9 Auspicious Home Ranking chart, as listed below.

Warning Sign: These are on the boundary between 2 sectors of directions. Therefore, it is suggested to seek advice from a professional fengshui consultation for guidance.
Several units face the most auspicious directions, but the community care apartments at Block 136A are facing the borderline of North/Northeast or South/Southwest, which is not so favourable.
Note that there is no fixed lucky direction that caters to everyone. If in doubt, you may like to leave it to the professionals. Way Fengshui provides end-to-end fengshui services from selecting an ideal unit to helping you create a harmonious environment in your new home.
External fengshui considerations
As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a new home.

Merpati Alcove – in the Geylang and Macpherson precinct – offers access to a diverse range of dining and shopping options, healthcare, and other daily necessities. It is also well-connected via park connectors and there are several schools nearby, which would suit school-age families.
From the fengshui perspective, the well-spaced housing layout is promising and could garner positive energies. However, potential homeowners should take note of ongoing and future developments of the area. Several sites surrounding Merpati Alcove are reserved for future high-rise residential developments.
High-rise buildings in proximity can pose fengshui conflicts such as Tian Zhan Sha (home’s frontage facing an opening between two or more building structures that funnel negative energies), corner Sha (角煞) where sharp corners present hidden threats or oppression, etc. If you encounter such scenarios, you may display a pair of guardian lions or Six Emperor Coins emblem to ward off the negative energies.
Canossa Catholic Primary School sits behind Merpati Alcove, and some stacks would face the school directly. While this spells convenience for the school-age families, those staying here are likely to be affected by heavier traffic and noises during active school hours. Affected residents may consider installing sound insulation to reduce noise disturbances from the external environment.
Last but not least, Merpati Alcove is also near a church, and some units will face it directly. Places of worship are where devotees gather and pray, hence it will congregate a strong force of energy that may cause a qi imbalance to its surroundings. It is believed that facing the cross of a church directly is unfavourable for long-term dwellers. However, concluding the qi condition based on the place of worship alone is not an inclusive move.
To evaluate the auspiciousness of an area, you need to consider factors like the house facing, distance from the church/temple, luck cycle of the residents etc. Moreover, with so many people staying together within the blocks, the yang energy gathered is strong enough to ward off the yin energy from the place of worship. If in doubt, you may want to consult a fengshui master.
Did you know?
Events and happenings within a space create energy vibrations that can either be positive or negative. These are not limited to indoor spaces, but could also be infused into the estate that you plan to live in. Hence, it makes sense to understand the history of your to-be neighbourhood, especially recent happenings that could leave traces of remnant energies.
It is always advisable to take a walk in the estate and take note of the features of surrounding buildings that may harbour threats of negative influences or hinder ventilation within your home, especially if there are new developments nearby. The main idea is to garner and ensure the smooth flow of positive Qi (energy) within your home while avoiding Sha Qi(negative energies).
Sha Qi in the environment surrounding your home can manifest into loss of wealth, accidents, and sickness. If there are sharp edges pointed towards your new home, then it is best to consider another unit or seek advice from a professional fengshui practitioner.
Established estates contain stronger ground energies than newer ones. Mixing old and new house developments together will allow newer estates to “absorb” the land’s energies at a faster rate. At Merpati Road, there used to be residential flats and landed properties. As this area gets rejuvenated, Merpati Alcove, nestled within existing private housing, shall be able to flourish together with its neighbours.
