Verandah @ Kallang: Landform fengshui

Bounded by Geylang Road, Sims Way, Kallang Airport Way, and Kallang Airport Drive, Verandah @ Kallang resides in the district of Kallang/Whampoa, just a stone’s throw away from Kallang MRT station. This new BTO estate sits on the Southern Dragon, aka the Wealth Dragon.

Located near the Kallang River, Verandah @ Kallang is part of the fengshui land formation known as ‘Five Snakes Battling a White Crocodile” with Kallang River complementing four other waterways. The four other waterways are namely Rochor River, Whampoa River, Geylang River and Pelton Canal. With abundant water sources in the area, does that indicate greater wealth opportunities for residents in Kallang?

Well, the river mouth is shaped like a crocodile’s mouth, where fast-flowing undercurrents and dangers lurk. Older Singaporeans may recall that developments at Kallang River precede that of Singapore River, but growth is slow due to distracting competitions between the Five Snakes. The diversion of the river also affects the land formation. In spite of its prime location and proximity to central Singapore, Kallang boasts an idyllic and quiet environment – ideal for quality living.

Internal fengshui considerations

When it comes to choosing an ideal unit, keep in mind that the main orientation of a house will directly influence the overall luck of its residents. The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can typically be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.

Verandah @ Kallang comprises 5 residential blocks ranging from 27 to 29 storeys, providing potential residents a choice of 2-room Flexi, 3-, and 4-room flats across 1,143 units.

Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in the upcoming Period 9 and 1 (years 2024 – 2063), and Northwest and Southeast are the second most auspicious directions. It is recommended to choose a unit that faces either of these directions or lies at the border of these directions to tap on the positive energies.

We have categorised the units at Verandah @ Kallang under the Period 9 Auspicious Home Ranking chart, as listed below.

External fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a new home.

Beyond its proximity to Kallang MRT Station and various amenities in the prime district, Verandah @ Kallang promises convenience to its residents with a 2-storey commercial block, which includes an eating house, shops, a minimart, a residents’ network centre, and a preschool. That makes this BTO project rather well-contained.

However, there may be conflicting forces from neighbouring blocks as some inward-facing stacks look close to one another. Some units are also likely to encounter the Sharp Edge Sha (尖角煞). This typically occurs when the door or window of your unit faces the corner of a nearby building. Such negative energies can result in increased anxiety and inability to concentrate, which may affect career and academic development. If in doubt, it is best to consult a professional fengshui practitioner.

Based on the site plan, several sites surrounding Verandah @ Kallang are reserved for future high-rise developments. Those who prefer unblocked views may want to consider a higher floor unit at stacks along Geylang Road. Others are advised to take measures to counter construction noises and conflicting energies (冲煞) during the development period.

Also, note that high-rise buildings in proximity present a potential risk of conflicts such as Tian Zhan Sha (home’s frontage facing an opening between two or more building structures that funnel negative energies). If you encounter such a scenario, you may display a pair of guardian lions or Six Emperor Coins emblem to ward off the negative energies.

Due to Singapore’s limited land space, there is a prevalence of multi-storey car parks (MSCP) within our local residential estates. This facility provides much convenience to residents, but at the cost of encountering fengshui conflicting forces (煞气) such as noise pollution (噪音) and headlight flashes from moving cars. This could cause disturbances to daily life such as insomnia.

At Verandah @ Kallang, those who choose a lower storey unit that faces the MSCP (i.e. Stack 202, 204, 270, 272) are advised to install a window blind.

Did you know?

Events and happenings within a space create energy vibrations that can either be positive or negative. These are not limited to indoor spaces, but could also be infused into the estate that you plan to live in. Hence, it makes sense to understand the history of your to-be neighbourhood, especially recent happenings that could leave traces of remnant energies.

Prior to selecting your house or flat, take a walk in the estate and take note of the features of surrounding buildings that may harbour threats of negative influences or hinder ventilation within your home. The main idea is to garner and ensure the smooth flow of positive Qi (energy) within your new home while avoiding Sha Qi (negative energies).

Sha Qi in the environment surrounding your home can manifest into loss of wealth, accidents, and sickness. If there are sharp edges pointed towards your potential home, then it is best to consider another unit or seek advice from a professional fengshui practitioner.

Also, Period 9 corresponds with the South, representing a strong Fire element. As such, you should be mindful of locating important spaces within your premises. For example, it is best to make adjustments if your stove (also of fire element) is facing South, otherwise  too much fire energy can cause instability and burnout for members in the household.

Future residents of Verandah @ Kallang should take note, since this BTO development sits on the Southern Dragon, also representative of the Fire element.
