“It takes all the running you can do, to keep in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!” – Alice in the Wonderland

If you are done running and looking for a place to settle, Dawson Vista – with that popular Alice in Wonderland themed outdoor playground could be your new forever home! However, before you make a decision, please read our in-depth home fengshui review on this early MOP-ed housing development to assess its fengshui qualities beyond its ideal location in Queenstown.

Note: Completed in 2020, Dawson Vista is a Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme (SERS) project. Its earliest minimum occupation period (MOP) is this year, and some units are already available for sale.

Dawson Vista: Landform Fengshui

Bounded by Strathmore Avenue, Dawson Road and Alexandra Canal Linear Park, Dawson Vista is conveniently located in the mature Queenstown precinct. From a fengshui viewpoint, it sits on the Western Dragon and falls under the fengshui formation of the “Land of White Horse”, characterised by enthusiasm and loyalty.

Long-time residents of the horse land shall benefit from its positive energies and attain success on their career front. However, one should not overlook the horse’s shortcomings such as being over-ambitious and lacking determination. The latter could result in failures and cause one to lose fighting spirit.

The energetic nature of the horse makes Queenstown an ideal place for business start-ups while those who wish to hold on to existing businesses may find it challenging.

Exterior fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a resale flat.

Dawson Vista is conveniently located near various facilities and amenities in the mature estate of Queentsown, including shopping malls, market and food centres, schools and a hospital. In fact, residents of block 78 enjoy doorstep amenities with the 2-storey commercial clock just by its side.

Nevertheless, the convenience of a mature estate is often offset by crowded housing options with higher chances of encountering conflict points (sharp edges pointed towards your potential home) from surrounding buildings or structures that are not ideal for fengshui.

Homeowners and potential resale buyers are advised to take note of stack 51 that overlooks a cross junction between Strathmore Avenue and Dawson Road. Cross-junction roads are potential landform obstructions that could bring Sha Qi, but you’d not be affected if your home is located on a higher floor. The silver lining for lower-storey units facing the potential Sha is that these are minor roads with lower speed limits.

If your unit is located near the lift or staircases (i.e. stack 53, 63, 65), stay mindful as this may respectively result in unstable magnetic field or unfavourable energies at home. Such situations could lead to household disharmony and health issues. Do practise greater awareness, and consider displaying a Petrified Wood emblem  in your living room.

Last but not least, there is a multi-storey car park at Dawson Vista that is 6/7 storeys tall. Some lower-floor units (stack 57 and 59) unfortunately are facing the car park directly. Imagine the sounds and lights from on-going traffic being casted into your living room and bedrooms. In fengshui, this are considered Sound Sha [声煞] and Light Sha [光煞], which could cause disturbances to daily life such as insomnia. Curtains or window blinds are highly recommended in such cases. If you have doubts, do consider seeking advice from a professional  fengshui  practitioner.

Internal fengshui considerations

Did you know that the main orientation of your house will directly influence the overall luck of your household member(s)? The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.

Dawson Vista comprises 2 blocks of 28- and 39-storey high residential blocks, with a total of 242 units across 3-, 4-, and 5-room flats. Some of these units are already available for resale while the rest will meet the MOP in 2025.

Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in Period 9 and Period 1 (years 2024 – 2063), followed by Northwest and Southeast. We have identified the Period 9 Auspicious Homes below. Do you live in any of these units?

All units at Dawson Vista face North/South, which is ideal in terms of home fengshui in the current Period 9 and Period 1. To further enhance one’s luck cycle during these periods, residents can display emblems with the Water element, such as a water feature to “cool” your home. Take note to avoid Fire-related designs.

Also, if your main door faces your neighbour’s main door (e.g. stack 63 and 65), do display a round light in between the two doors, or hang a Super 5 Shield at the top of your door frame. From a home fengshui viewpoint, conflicting energies between both households may arise and affect harmony if two main entrances face each other directly.

Did you know?

“The main door, as the Chinese put it, is the mouth to your home.” What you eat (or the qi you receive into your home) has a significant effect on your family’s health and well-being. As such, it is unadvisable to have your main door or bedroom door facing the toilet door directly.

Also, the toilet is a place with moisture and stinky smell, the negative energy that flows directly into the bedroom due to inappropriate door positions can cause illness on bones and muscles. This is especially if the toilet door opens to face your bed directly. Over time, it may lead to a more serious illness as well as wealth loss.

In the case of Dawson Vista, the 3-room floor plan shows the main door facing a toilet door while one of the 4-room floor plans shows a toilet door facing a bedroom door directly. Homeowners may want to consider slight modifications to the layout or to seek advice from a professional fengshui practitioner for fengshui  remedies.

The position of your main door and toilet, as well as where they face is very important. A toilet should not be directly facing your main door, kitchen door, or the bedroom door (as mentioned earlier). Bear in mind that the toilet door is like a large hole, releasing negative energy, conflicting with the beneficial energy that enters via the main entrance, and it would affect your household members negatively.
