Fengshui Review: MOP Resale Flats at Anchorvale Plains in Sengkang (D19)

Published: 16 Sep 2024
Bee hives in HDB dwellings are increasingly common as Singapore embarks on our mission to become a city in a garden. In fact, swarms of bees were spotted across a number of HDB blocks in Buangkok last month, at a relatively new housing estate – Buangkok Woods – that reached its 5-year minimum occupation period (MOP) this year.
Facing a swarm of bees may seem scary, but does it indicate auspiciousness in this precinct? Is a beehive good luck? What does it imply in terms of fengshui? Let’s take an in-depth home fengshui review on this 2024 MOP-ed housing estate to assess its fengshui qualities beyond its convenient location. Read on!
Buangkok Woods: Landform Fengshui
Bounded by Buangkok Drive Extension, Buangkok Link, and Buangkok Crescent, Buangkok Woods sits on the Eastern Dragon in Sengkang. From the fengshui perspective, this land features the “frog land”. Residents of the frog land are exceptionally shrewd, but they can be rather laidback. Easy going and generous, they are also persistent in subjects of their interest.
This place is beneficial to strong-willed people as they can put their wisdom to good use in their daily life, whereas those with weaker willpower may become lazy and obsessed with effortless gains after some lucky encounters. For more tips to improve your career luck, read this!
Exterior fengshui considerations
As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a resale flat.
Reflecting a kampung design, Buangkok Woods comprises interlinked green spaces that create a seamless connection with the nearby park, providing a relaxing environment for its residents. As recent HDB developments strive to include green spaces, the flora and fauna are thriving in Singapore.
Green spaces have been shown to foster happiness and wellbeing but plants can also introduce unwanted pests into our homes if they are too close to entrances. In fengshui, it is also believed that trees can deflect incoming auspicious energies. Hence, potential resale unit buyers are reminded to refrain from selecting a unit that is close to trees and plants.
Last month, a beehive was found on the roof of a block at Buangkok Woods and some residents encountered swarms of bees. While urban dwellers are likely to cringe at the idea of having bees at home, did you know that people in ancient China believed that a place would be blessed with joy and good fortune if bees made a hive in that place?
#JustSaying While bees are considered a symbol of good luck in Chinese culture for its ability to extract honey (sweetness), homeowners are advised to keep practicality in mind when choosing your resale unit. If you have any doubts, don’t hesitate to seek advice from a professional fengshui practitioner.
Across the road from Buangkok Woods is the Institute of Mental Health (IMH). Outer stacks along Buangkok Link will face the hospital and are likely to encounter Sound Sha [声煞] and Light Sha [光煞] since hospitals operate around the clock. Also, hospitals are Yin in nature and the knowledge of staying in close proximity to a hospital may cause unease to some people, possibly leading them to experience physical and mental fatigue. Hence, it may be better to select a unit on a higher floor or to reconsider the inner stacks.
On the other hand, Buangkok Woods is a stone’s throw from Buangkok Square Mall and the neighbourhood centre, which means accessibility to many amenities. This spells convenience and a vibrant housing environment. Homeowners and potential buyers should take note of the heavier traffic and potential Sha (conflicts) though. For those who are more sensitive to noise, do consider sound insulation solutions.
If your unit is located near the lift (279, 281, 277, 297, 299, 319, 315, 317, 335, 337, 339, 357, 359, 361) or staircases, stay mindful as this may respectively result in unstable magnetic field or unfavourable energies at home. Such situations could lead to household disharmony and health issues. Do practise greater awareness, and consider displaying a Petrified Wood emblem in your living room.
Last but not least, there is a 6/7-storey Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP) at Buangkok Woods. Some units (stack 261, ,263, 267, 309, 311, 351, 353, 355, 357) face the MSCP directly, and are likely to encounter fengshui conflicting forces (煞气) such as noise pollution (噪音) and headlight flashes from moving cars if your unit is on the lower storey (below 7 floor). Such disturbances to daily life might induce insomnia. To counter this, homeowners can consider installing a window blind or curtains.

Did you know that the main orientation of your house will directly influence the overall luck of your household member(s)? The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.

Buangkok Woods comprises 5 residential blocks of 711 units of 2-room Flexi, 3-, and 4-room flats. These blocks range from 15 to 16-storey in height. Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in Period 9 and Period 1 (years 2024 – 2063), followed by Northwest and Southeast. We have identified the Period 9 Auspicious Homes below. Do you live in any of these units?

Several units at Buangkok Woods face North/South and Northwest/Southeast, which are ideal in terms of home fengshui in Period 9 and Period 1. To further enhance one’s luck cycle during these periods, residents can display emblems with the Water element, such as a water feature to “cool” your home. Take note to avoid Fire-related designs.
As for units that face the less favourable directions such as East/West or Northeast/Southwest, potential buyers of resale units may want to consult a professional fengshui practitioner for further analysis before proceeding.

Did you know?
Many people have the impression that HDB flats have been shrinking in size. The truth is, the size of HDB flats have remained unchanged since 1997! For those of you who have used/are planning to use mirrors to give the illusion of depth and make the interior space look bigger, do note the following fengshui taboos regarding the installation of mirrors in your living space.
- Mirrors should be positioned to face internal walls. If your mirror faces the main door or window, they may reflect influences of the external environment, which can be negative to the well-being and emotions of household members.
- Opt for plain mirrors instead of those with fancy patterns or mosaic. Fragmented patterns may give a sense of brokenness.
- Avoid installing too many mirrors, as the multiple reflections and shadows may easily cause one to be in a trance, heightening stress and anxiety. Too many mirrors can also disrupt harmony and happiness, especially in the coming Period 9, which represents a strong Fire element.
Ensure that your home is balanced in energy, otherwise excessive Fire influence can result in anxiety and restlessness, which would in turn affect health and household harmony. If you are planning to conduct home renovation to tap on the benefitting energies of Period 9, do get in touch for a fengshui consultation.
