Nestled in the tranquil region of Yishun’s bustling neighbourhood overlooking Lower Seletar reservoir, The Criterion is a 99-year leasehold luxury executive condominium (EC) that recently reached its Minimum Occupancy Period (MOP).

With easy access to both Khatib and Yishun MRT stations, as well as Northpoint City, this development is definitely an attractive option for home-buyers looking to call Yishun home. Let us take a closer look at the fengshui aspects to determine if it could be your ideal fengshui home. Read on!

The Criterion: Landform Fengshui

Built in 2018, The Criterion EC is located along Yishun Street 51 and sits on the Southern Dragon of Singapore. It is part of the fengshui land formation known as the “Land of Collapsed Plum Blossom”, as Yishun is known for having relatively smooth terrain with a few hills.

This is an auspicious fengshui location for business owners. Also, it is worth noting that magpies can be observed roaming the Orchid Country Club, located just a stone’s throw away from The Criterion.

In fengshui, magpies have long been regarded as “birds of happiness”, often associated with joy and celebration. Prospective families who decide to settle down in The Criterion are likely to enjoy harmonious relationships.

Internal fengshui considerations

When it comes to choosing an ideal unit, keep in mind that the main orientation of a house will directly influence the overall luck of its residents. The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.

The Criterion EC comprises a total of 505 units across 10 blocks of 13-storey buildings. Potential homeowners can choose from two- to five-bedroom units and penthouses.

Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in the upcoming Period 9 and Period 1 (years 2024 – 2063), and Northwest and Southeast are the second most auspicious directions.

The good news is, there are several units at The Criterion facing the above mentioned favourable directions. Aspiring homeowners planning to get a resale EC unit here can refer to our below  recommendations.

There are a number of units in The Criterion that face Northeast and Southwest. While these are auspicious directions in the fengshui Period 8, the positive fengshui benefits will begin to diminish in Period 9 (2024 – 2063). Therefore, if you currently own or plan to purchase a Northeast- or Southwest-facing home, you may want to consult with a  fengshui master before 2024.

Homeowners should also take note that there is no fixed lucky direction that caters to everyone. If necessary, you can seek advice from a professional fengshui practitioner to help you create a harmonious environment in your new home.

Exterior fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a new home.  It is always worthwhile to do a physical site visit prior to your property purchase.

In terms of convenience, The Criterion EC is near to many facilities and amenities in the mature t. On the other hand, a mature estate also implies more crowded housing options. The Criterion is sandwiched between two residential estates, namely Signature at Yishun EC and Vista Spring @ Yishun HDB, of similar heights.

While there seems to be relative spacing between the outer stacks (29, 33, 34, 37) and the nearby units at Signature at Yishun EC, prospective homeowners are advised to check for conflicting forces such as Sharp Edge Sha (尖角煞), which normally occurs when two buildings are located near to each other. Those at stacks 14, 18 and 19, which are nearer to Vista Spring @ Yishun HDB should be mindful too.

The Sharp Edge Sha typically occurs when the door or window of your unit faces the corner of a nearby building. Such negative energies can result in increased anxiety and inability to concentrate, which may affect career and academic development.

When selecting a unit, one should also check whether it is near an electrical storage room or surrounded by big electronic devices as this may result in an unstable magnetic field, and adversely affect the physical and mental well-being of residents.

Stack 2 and 3 are located nearest to the substation, and if one has concerns, it is best to consult a professional fengshui practitioner before proceeding. Alternatively, you may want to consider a unit on a higher floor, where you are less likely to encounter this situation.

On a positive note, ideal fengshui conditions allow for easy entry and accumulation of auspicious energies. In the case of The Criterion EC, water features surrounding the residential blocks make it conducive for receiving and retaining auspicious energies. A majority of the units in the blocks on the side of Yishun Ave 1 will likely have unblocked views, and possibly that of Lower Seletar Reservoir.

Did you know?

Money is not everything, but without it, you can hardly do anything. For those who are focused on building your wealth, you may want to be more mindful of your wealth position, as well as the shoe shelf, in your home.

The wealth position refers to a place where wealth accumulates. Hence, the space surrounding your wealth position must be kept clean and tidy. There should not be clutter, electrical appliances or sharp objects around or at your wealth position. There is heavy Sha (煞气) aka negative energies where the shoe shelf is located. Hence, your wealth luck will be affected if your shoe shelf directly faces your wealth position.

Some people unknowingly positioned their shoe shelf at their wealth position. When this happens, their wealth is likely to disperse and one may find that it is difficult to accumulate wealth. Should this happen, it is best to shift the shoe shelf or avoid placing shoes within the rack. Curious to learn more about your wealth position at home? Read this!
