Completed in 2023, the long-awaited Build-to-Order (BTO) housing project, Rivervale Shores is aptly named after its location along the edge of Serangoon Reservoir, and Sengkang as a former fishing village.

In Chinese culture, the water element often represents good fortune and abundance. However, having a direct view of a flowing river from your home doesn’t necessarily guarantee good fengshui.

Rivervale Shores: Landform fengshui  

Bounded by Sengkang East Drive and Tampines Expressway, Rivervale Shores sits on the Eastern Dragon in Sengkang, which is defined as a “Frog Land” from the fengshui perspective. Though exceptionally shrewd, residents of the frog land are rather laidback. Besides being easy-going and generous, they are also persistent in subjects of their interest.

Flowing from Coney Island in the northeast, it is worthy to note that the Serangoon Reservoir flows from left to right of the development. As such, stacks that are along the Sungei Serangoon Park Connector facing Serangoon Reservoir with unblocked views should tap on the energy if you want to produce resilience and perseverance in your children.

Besides its accessibility to nearby neighbourhood centres such as Rivervale Plaza and Rivervale Mall, Rivervale Shores comprises commercial facilities such as eating houses, shops, a supermarket and restaurants within the BTO development to provide daily conveniences to the residents. This spells convenience for the residents but blocks that are located directly above or near the commercial facilities are likely to experience greater noise pollution. Sound insulation options such as installing blind or curtains can help to minimise such disturbance.

Being a jumbo development with 16 residential blocks, not to mention surrounding high-rise residential developments, residents of Rivervale Shores are also advised to keep a lookout for fengshui conflicts. For homeowners on a higher floor unit, that’s great because you can enjoy blocked views and the probability of encountering certain fengshui conflicts is lesser.

Take note that high-rise buildings in proximity present a potential risk of conflicts such as Tian Zhan Sha (home’s frontage facing an opening between two or more building structures that funnel negative energies), corner Sha (角煞) where sharp corners present hidden threats, etc.

Internal fengshui considerations

Rivervale Shores offers 2,500 residential units across 16 blocks, ranging from 8 to 18 storey in height. This BTO project comprises 2-room Flexi, 3-, 4-, and 5-room flats.

Many of the BTO units here face North or South, and Northwest or Southeast  which is ideal in terms of home fengshui in the upcoming Period 9 and Period 1 (years 2024 – 2063). Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in these upcoming periods, and Northwest and Southeast are the second most auspicious directions.
