Landform Fengshui: Waterway Sunrise I in District 19

In Singapore, the Five Dragon Landform Fengshui harnesses “hidden dragons”, which are man-made structures that channel energy flows. From the lens of fengshui, roads act as “dragon veins,” skyscrapers as “mountain dragons” offering stability, and waterways serve as wealth-attracting “water dragons.”
The five auspicious dragons, namely Eastern, Western, Southern, Northern, and Central, along with the Singapore and Kallang Rivers, converge to drive the city’s growth and prosperity, with each dragon influencing a region’s success.
Nestled between Serangoon Reservoir and the eastern end of My Waterway@Punggol, Waterway Sunrise I is positioned near the tail of the Eastern Dragon in one of Singapore’s crab lands, specifically resembling a ‘hairy crab’.
The dragon’s tail represents stability and gradual growth (rather than explosive success like the dragon’s head). Hence, residents here must be patient and adaptable in order to thrive over time.
Fengshui Formation: Waterway Sunrise I in District 19

Waterway Sunrise in Punggol belongs to the land formation of “Crab Suppressed by Rock”. A crab land symbolises strength and vigour. While highly driven to reach the top, the crab is prone to acting rashly in its unyielding pursuit for success. Fortunately, this crab is held in place by a big rock. This means that residents in Punggol are controlled in their journey for progress, striking a harmonious balance at all times.
Located in the Northeast region of Singapore, Punggol has developed rapidly over the past two decades, coinciding with the fengshui Period 8 that favours the Northeast. But is it really a coincidence? Interestingly, as we entered Period 9 last year, development seems to be slowing in this region.
Initially slated for completion by 2023, the first phase of Punggol Digital District (PDD) that includes eight towers was pushed back to 2026. The final building shapes and user allocations for the remaining 29 hectares of land are still under consideration, depending on future demand. Still, the PDD offers exciting opportunities when it is fully completed, so Punggol residents, including those at Waterway Sunrise I, have much to look forward to.

Exterior fengshui considerations
As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a resale flat.

Located at the edge of Punggol East, Waterway Sunrise I offers a tranquil living environment near to nature, away from major roads and commercial noise. Nestled between Serangoon Reservoir and the eastern end of My Waterway@Punggol, this relatively new HDB estate promises water and sunrise views for some units.
In landscape fengshui, a household is considered auspicious and blessed with prosperity and abundance if you can see flowing water from your living room, especially if there is a large door or window that allows an inflow of energy from the river/sea across your home.
Nevertheless, it is crucial to determine the water flow direction to determine if having a view of the flowing water is indeed beneficial to one’s household. If in doubt, it is best to seek advice from a professional fengshui practitioner.
Waterway Sunrise I comprises 8 residential blocks and while they look well-spaced on the site plan, homeowners should be mindful of potential conflicting forces (煞气). With several high-rise buildings densely packed together, there is greater likelihood of encountering conflicting forces such as Sharp Edge Sha (尖角煞) and Wall Blade Sha (壁刀煞).
The former occurs when a residential unit faces the sharp edge of a neighbouring structure. Such negative energies can result in increased anxiety and inability to concentrate, which may affect career and academic development. The latter occurs when a residential unit faces the sharp edge of a neighbouring structure. Hence, it may be worth considering a unit that faces the river or Dunman High School instead.
One must also be mindful of Constriction Sha, which occurs when air currents between two buildings converge to charge at one being sandwiched in between. As residents open their windows for ventilation, they will introduce these inauspicious energies to their home. Affected parties may become listless and pessimistic. If you encounter such scenarios, it is best to seek advice from a professional fengshui practitioner.
Last but not least, be mindful of the location and proximity of the Bin Centre or rubbish chute area. For example, the rubbish chute area near the main door of Stack 718, 764, 822, and 868 may affect residents if the chute overflows with rubbish. When the wind starts blowing, the rubbish stench would affect nearby households even if the estate uses the Pneumatic Waste Conveyance System (PWCS).
Internal fengshui considerations
Homeowners should bear in mind the main orientation of your house, as it will directly influence the overall luck of your household member(s). The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.
Tip: Did you know a physical Luopan (fengshui compass) is much more sensitive to the Qi, energy of the house than a digital compass? You can use our Free Way Almanac App to know your rough direction of your house. It is still advisable to get a professional fengshui Master to fix your home direction.

Waterway Sunrise I comprises 8 residential blocks ranging from 6 to 18 storeys. There are 1,295 units in total, ranging across 2-room Flexi, 3, 4-, 5-room, and 3Gen flats.
Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in Period 9 and Period 1 (years 2024 – 2063), followed by Northwest and Southeast. We have identified the Period 9 Auspicious Homes below. Do you live in any of these units?

Several units at Waterway Sunrise I face favourable directions in the current fengshui period. With appropriate fengshui measures, you can optimise your household luck to thrive further, especially if your home is North- or South-facing.
However, take note of stacks that lie on the boundary between two directions, indicated with the warning sign. Concerned homeowners or aspiring resale buyers may want to seek a professional fengshui consultation for guidance.
Also, units located near the lift are likely to encounter unstable magnetic fields at home, which could lead to household disharmony and health issues. Thankfully, there are fengshui remedies for such situations.
For units with main doors facing each other, be aware of potential energy conflicts. If your door directly aligns with your neighbor’s, consulting a professional fengshui practitioner can help mitigate any negative effects.
Did you know?
The Kun sector, located in the Southwest of your home, is one area that you should not overlook! It represents the mother (matriarch energy), which denotes empathy, harmony and relationships.
The main element of this area is Earth, hence water features are recommended here. To ensure good health and stable emotions, plants should not be placed in this area. Also, this is a sector that should not be in the kitchen, toilet or storeroom.
For those who are scratching your head over where the Southwest sector in your home is, don’t worry! You are just a step from improving your home fengshui and luck. Read this to locate the sectors within your living space.
Besides that, keep a lookout for the South sector / facing as it corresponds with Period 9, and represents a strong Fire element. For example, adjustments are recommended if your stove (also of fire element) is facing South, otherwise too much fire energy can cause instability and burnout for members in the household.
The fengshui Period 9 is also influenced by a wealth star, indicating growing fortune and propitiousness. However, the Fire element influencing this current period can be unstable. If you are planning to conduct home renovation to tap on the benefitting energies of Period 9, do get in touch for a fengshui consultation.
