Completed in 2020, this 99-year leasehold public housing is reaching its Minimum Occupancy Period (MOP) soon. If you are looking for a resale flat in Hougang, you may want to keep a lookout for this one. Our in-depth home fengshui review will tell you why. Read on!

Landform Fengshui: Hougang Rivercourt in District 19

In Singapore, the Five Dragon Landform Fengshui harnesses “hidden dragons”, which are man-made structures that channel energy flows. From the lens of fengshui, roads act as “dragon veins,” skyscrapers as “mountain dragons” offering stability, and waterways serve as wealth-attracting “water dragons.”

The five auspicious dragons, namely Eastern, Western, Southern, Northern, and Central, along with the Singapore and Kallang Rivers, converge to drive the city’s growth and prosperity, with each dragon influencing a region’s success.

Fengshui Formation: Hougang Rivercourt in District 19

Bounded by Tampines Road, Hougang Avenue 7 and Hougang Street 32, Hougang Rivercourt sits near the mid-section of the Eastern Dragon of Singapore. This indicates stable qi flow, which is ideal for long-term residence or business.

In the Hougang precinct, the fengshui formation of the “Paired Lotus Land” represents good luck and happiness and favours females.

The Paired Lotus Land tends to produce strong-minded yet traditional women, with the potential of making it big. To make it big, female residents are advised to tap on their knowledge wisely to ensure a holistic development.

Hougang Rivercourt’s proximity to a number of schools also makes it ideal for young families. Aligning to the landform fengshui, our fengshui  master recommends young families with daughters to consider this area, as it would be beneficial in terms of study and career prospects.

Exterior fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a resale flat.

Despite being in a non-mature estate and located a distance from its nearest MRT station at Hougang (at least until Defu Station is completed in 2030), Hougang Rivercourt residents are in a self-sufficient development. With the neighbourhood centre integrated with this soon-to-MOP development, residents have doorstep access to amenities.

Let’s talk about the fengshui aspects! With only 285 units across two blocks, Hougang Rivercourt offers a more private and peaceful environment. Featuring a central roof garden flanked by residential blocks, it creates a courtyard in the heart of the development, which is positive in terms of fengshui – for its ability to attract and accumulate energy (藏风纳气).

Also, its proximity to the Serangoon River implies auspiciousness, as rivers represent prosperity and abundance, and their flowing water is believed to bring positive energy. This applies for stacks 19, 21, 31, 33 overlooking the canal as well. In landscape fengshui, a household is considered auspicious and blessed with prosperity and abundance if you can see flowing water from your living room, especially if there is a large door or window that allows an inflow of energy from the river across your home.

Nevertheless, it is crucial to determine the river flow direction to determine if having a view of the flowing water is indeed beneficial to one’s household. If in doubt, it is best to seek advice from a professional  fengshui  practitioner.

Despite the low urban density at Hougang Rivercourt, residents should take note of the surrounding public housing and sites reserved for high-rise residential developments, as this means blockage or potential conflict points. Remember to take measures against pollution and negative energies (Sha Qi) during the construction period, too.

Last but not least, cross-junction roads are potential landform obstructions that could bring Sha. However, there’s no need to worry about the cross junction between Tampines Road and Hougang Avenue if your home is located on a higher floor. With the neighbourhood centre acting as a buffer, residents at Hougang Rivercourt will not be affected.

Internal fengshui considerations

Homeowners should bear in mind the main orientation of your house, as it will directly influence the overall luck of your household member(s). The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.

Tip: Did you know a physical Luopan (fengshui compass) is much more sensitive to the Qi, energy of the house than a digital compass? You can use our Free Way Almanac App to know your rough direction of your house. It is still advisable to get a professional fengshui  Master to fix your home direction.

Hougang Rivercourt comprises two 19-storey residential blocks and offers a total of 285 units of 4-, 5-room, and 3Gen flats.

Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in Period 9 and Period 1 (years 2024 – 2063), followed by Northwest and Southeast. We have identified the Period 9 Auspicious Homes below. Do you live in any of these units?

While all stacks at Hougang Rivercourt face the most favourable directions in terms of home fengshui in the current Period 9, do note that there is no fixed lucky direction that caters to everyone. If in doubt, you may like to leave it to the professionals.

Be it for existing homeowners or aspiring resale homebuyers, Way Fengshui provides professional residential fengshui services with the ultimate aim of helping you to create a harmonious environment in your home.

Did you know?

Period 9 corresponds with the South, representing a strong Fire element. As such, one should be mindful of locating important spaces within your premises. For example, it is best to make adjustments if your stove (also of fire element) is facing South, otherwise too much fire energy can cause instability and burnout for members in the household.

In fengshui, the stove represents “the female owner of the house”. As such, the state of the stove in your house represents the condition of your mother or wife. If your stove happens to face South, you are highly recommended to consult a professional  fengshui  master for appropriate fengshui measures.
