Landform fengshui: Sun Sails in District 27

In Singapore, the Five Dragon Landform Fengshui harnesses “hidden dragons”, which are man-made structures that channel energy flows. From the lens of fengshui, roads act as “dragon veins,” skyscrapers as “mountain dragons” offering stability, and waterways serve as wealth-attracting “water dragons.”

The five auspicious dragons, namely Eastern, Western, Southern, Northern, and Central, along with the Singapore and Kallang Rivers, converge to drive the city’s growth and prosperity, with each dragon influencing a region’s success.

Sun Sails is nestled near the tail of the Southern Dragon, a fengshui position marked by shifting energy and constant change. The Dragon’s Tail is known for its less stable qi, requiring resilience, adaptability, and a steadfast heart to navigate its dynamic currents. This location is best suited for individuals who are ready to embrace transformation, overcome challenges, and grow through perseverance. For those with determination and inner strength, Sun Sails offers a space where trials can be turned into triumphs, and where personal evolution thrives amid movement and change.

Fengshui Formation of Sun Sails in District 27

Bounded by Sembawang Avenue, Sembawang Road, and Sembawang Link, Sun Sails sits on the tail of the Southern Dragon that favours residential and commercial developments.

In recent years, Sembawang is indeed getting more vibrant with new residential estates and malls, making it conducive for families, especially those with young kids.

The fengshui formation identified in Sembawang is believed to be that of “Thriving Bamboos”. Bamboos, being an auspicious symbol in Chinese culture, indicate the potential for growth and progress. Thus, this formation promises positive influences for residents in Sembawang. To attain success, residents should stay down-to-earth, work hard and take all matters in stride.

Exterior fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a new home.

Residents of the recently TOP-ed Sun Sails seem to enjoy the best of both worlds in a laid back environment with many recreational amenities such as Bukit Canberra hub, Sembawang Hot Spring Park, several malls and food centers. In terms of accessibility, it is located within a 10-minute walk to either Sembawang MRT station or Canberra MRT station.

While Sun Sails boasts a much lower plot ratio (1.8 vs 2.8) than the surrounding HDB flats, there are eight high-rise residential blocks within the estate. Residents should keep a lookout for conflicting forces from neighbouring blocks, as there is greater likelihood of encountering conflicting forces such as Sharp Edge Sha (尖角煞) and Wall Blade Sha (壁刀煞).

The former occurs when a residential unit faces the sharp edge of a neighbouring structure. Such negative energies can result in increased anxiety and inability to concentrate, which may affect career and academic development. The latter occurs when a residential unit faces the sharp edge of a neighbouring structure. In such scenarios, it is best to consult a professional fengshui practitioner.

On the other hand, some units at the Sun Sails get unblocked views for mid- and high-floor units directly facing low rise private housing to the South and East. In fengshui, the front of your dwelling represents the Red Phoenix, which also symbolises aspirations and a bright future. As such, unblocked views promise smooth flow of energy in the absence of points of conflict (sha), which is great for higher floor units at Block 373A and 373B that face the private housing.

As we take a closer look, note that there is a T-junction to the front of Sun Sails. From a fengshui perspective, T-junction represents potential Sha energy / poison arrow, where the fast-moving qi may collide with the residential premises, implying severe loss for homeowners in terms of career, health or wealth.

From a practical viewpoint, facing the end of a T-junction means more traffic, which means light pollution (from headlights of oncoming cars at night) and Sound Sha from the traffic. Lower floor units at Stack 103 facing Sembawang Avenue are more susceptible to these disturbances. Homeowners may consider installing sound-proof windows or curtains and blinds for a more conducive space.

Last but not least, cross-junction roads are also potential landform obstructions that could bring Sha Qi. While stack 115 and 117 sits near the cross junction between Sembawang Avenue and Sembawang Drive, the Precinct Pavilion at Block 370 helps to act as a buffer for potential poison arrows from the cross junction, hence residents of these stacks need not worry.

Renovating and shifting into a new space can be daunting, especially for first-time homeowners. If in doubt, don’t hesitate to consult a professional fengshui practitioner.

Internal fengshui considerations

Homeowners should bear in mind the main orientation of your house, as it will directly influence the overall luck of your household member(s). The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.

Tip: Did you know a physical Luopan (fengshui compass) is much more sensitive to the Qi, energy of the house than an digital compass? You can use our Free Way Almanac App to know your rough direction of your house. It is still advisable to get a professional fengshui  Master to fix your home direction.

Sun Sails comprises eight residential blocks with 726 units of 2-room Flexi, 3-, 4- and 5-room flats. The blocks range from 6 to 13-storeys in height.

Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in the current Period 9 and Period 1 (years 2024 – 2063), followed by Northwest and Southeast. We have categorised the units under the Period 9 Auspicious Home Ranking chart, as listed below.

Most units at Sun Sails face favourable directions in the current  fengshui  period. With appropriate fengshui measures, you can optimise your household luck to thrive further, especially if your home is North- or South-facing.

However, take note that several stacks lie on the boundary between two directions. These are indicated with the warning sign. If your unit falls into this category, consider seeking a professional fengshui consultation for guidance.

Take note that units located near the lift are likely to encounter unstable magnetic fields at home, which could lead to household disharmony and health issues. Thankfully, there are fengshui remedies for such situations.

For units with main doors facing each other, be aware of potential energy conflicts. If your door directly aligns with your neighbor’s, consulting a professional fengshui practitioner can help mitigate any negative effects.

Did you know?

Period 9, which corresponds with the South, represents a strong Fire element. Hence, it is crucial to locate important spaces within your premises. For example, it is best to make adjustments if your stove (also of fire element) is facing South, otherwise too much fire energy can cause instability and burnout for members in the household.

Also, you may have come across an ancient Chinese saying, “火烧天门不利主”. This translates literally as “Fire Burning Heaven’s Gate” – a home configuration that is believed to be detrimental to the homeowner in terms of fengshui. This occurs if your kitchen is located in the Northwest sector at home.

In fengshui, the Northwest sector (Qian) represents the Heaven, father or husband of a household. It is also associated with the Metal element. As such, this sector can influence the luck and position of the male homeowner, depending on what the space is used for. Having a kitchen and the stove in the Northwest sector indicates clashes between the Metal and Fire elements, which may in turn affect wealth and health.

In the case of Sun Sails, some 5-room units have their kitchen in the Northwest sector. While this may raise concerns, one should not generalise the adverse effects of the “Fire Burning Heaven’s Gate” formation.

Further analysis, including Bazi compatibility of the homeowner(s), flying stars, etc. is required before concluding if having your kitchen in the Northwest sector of your home will indeed affect your household negatively. If in doubt, consult a professional fengshui master for further analysis and appropriate fengshui measures.
