Landform fengshui: Hougang Olive in District 19
In Singapore, the Five Dragon Landform Fengshui harnesses “hidden dragons”, which are man-made structures that channel energy flows. From the lens of fengshui, roads act as “dragon veins,” skyscrapers as “mountain dragons” offering stability, and waterways serve as wealth-attracting “water dragons.”
The five auspicious dragons, namely Eastern, Western, Southern, Northern, and Central, along with the Singapore and Kallang Rivers, converge to drive the city’s growth and prosperity, with each dragon influencing a region’s success.
Hougang Olive is nestled near the tail of the Eastern Dragon, a fengshui position associated with shifting energies and constant movement. The Dragon’s Tail embodies transformation, unpredictability, and the spirit of perseverance. In this dynamic location, success favours those with resilience, adaptability, and a steadfast heart. While the qi here can be more volatile, it also brings opportunities for bold growth and reinvention for those who can embrace change with confidence. Hougang Olive offers a vibrant setting for pioneers, visionaries, and anyone ready to turn challenges into stepping stones toward lasting achievement.
Fengshui Formation of Hougang Olive
Located in Singapore’s district 19, Hougang Olive is bounded by Hougang Avenue 3, Hougang Street 12, and Hougang Street 13. This recently TOP-ed estate sits on the Eastern Dragon of Singapore within the fengshui formation of the “Paired Lotus Land”, which represents good luck and happiness and favours females.
The Paired Lotus Land tends to produce strong-minded yet traditional women, with the potential of making it big. To make it big, female residents are advised to tap on their knowledge wisely to ensure a holistic development.
Hougang Olive’s proximity to a number of schools also makes it ideal for young families. Aligning to the landform fengshui, our fengshui master recommends young families with daughters to consider this area, as it would be beneficial in terms of study and career prospects.
Exterior fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a new home.
Located across the road from the popular Hougang Citrine, Hougang Olive offers similar conveniences such as recreational facilities, schools, and upcoming developments of a neighbourhood park, healthcare facilities, supermarket, shops and eating house around the vicinity.
Across the road from Hougang Olive sits a well-established Chinese temple named Hong Lai Sze. Some may worry about staying in close proximity or overlooking the temple from their unit (i.e. stacks 133 and 135 along Hougang Street 13).
From a fengshui perspective, places of worship are where devotees gather and pray, hence it will congregate a strong force of energy that may cause a qi imbalance to its surroundings… BUT! There are actually more factors to consider.
Assessing the auspiciousness of an area requires considering factors such as house orientation, distance from the temple, and residents’ luck cycles. Also, the strong yang energy from the residential blocks can balance the yin energy from the place of worship. If in doubt, it is best to consult a reliable fengshui master.
While we are on the subject of establishments with “yin” nature, let’s look at the Lentor Health Nursing Home and Lentor Health Senior Care Centre at the southwest of Hougang Olive. Some stacks at block 175A and 176B overlook this medical and healthcare centre.
Nursing homes, like hospitals, are indeed “yin” in nature, and the knowledge of staying near such establishments may cause unease to some people—possibly leading to physical and mental fatigue in the long term. For those who seek lesser noise disturbances, you may want to consider additional sound insulation rectifications.
Lower floor units (below 5 storeys) that are facing the Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP) directly should be mindful of light and noise pollution, particularly stack 143, 145, 147 and 149 whose living room and bedrooms face the MSCP.
Excessive Light Sha and Sound Sha can increase stress and blood pressure levels. Worse still, it can even lead to insomnia. To counter this, our fengshui masters propose the use of soundproofing technology in one’s personal space, especially for bedrooms. Additionally, homeowners can install thick curtains to reduce noise levels.
Located in the non-mature town of Hougang, Hougang Olive sits at a developing zone where it will be surrounded by high-rise public housing and industrial developments. Residents, take note of future developments surrounding your home, as this indicates potential conflict points, as well as pollution and negative energies (Sha Qi) during the construction period.
High-rise buildings in proximity present a potential risk of conflicts such as Tian Zhan Sha (home’s frontage facing an opening between two or more building structures that funnel negative energies), corner Sha (角煞) where sharp corners present hidden threats or oppression, etc. If you encounter such scenarios, don’t hesitate to consult a professional fengshui practitioner.
Internal fengshui considerations
Homeowners should bear in mind the main orientation of your house, as it will directly influence the overall luck of your household member(s). The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.
Tip: Did you know a physical Luopan (fengshui compass) is much more sensitive to the Qi, energy of the house than an digital compass? You can use our Free Way Almanac App to know your rough direction of your house. It is still advisable to get a professional fengshui Master to fix your home direction.

Getting a reliable fengshui consultation can help you to clear doubts and ensure that your household thrives in Period 9.
Did you know?
The Kun sector, located in the Southwest of your home, is one area that you should not overlook! It represents the mother (matriarch energy), which denotes empathy, harmony and relationships.
The main element of this area is Earth, hence water features are recommended here. To ensure good health and stable emotions, plants should not be placed in this area. Also, this is a sector that should not be in the kitchen, toilet or storeroom.
For those who are scratching your head over where the Southwest sector in your home is, don’t worry! You are just a step from improving your home fengshui and luck. Read this to locate the sectors within your living space.
Besides that, keep a lookout for the South sector / facing as it corresponds with Period 9, and represents a strong Fire element. For example, adjustments are recommended if your stove (also of fire element) is facing South, otherwise too much fire energy can cause instability and burnout for members in the household. If your stove happens to face South, consider consulting a professional fengshui master for appropriate fengshui measures.
