Published: 28 December 2023

Located in a reputed ‘more established’ non-mature estate in the West, Jurong Arcadia is a Build-To-Order (BTO) housing project in Jurong West that was launched in the HDB’s December 2023 BTO exercise.

With its easy accessibility to food, shopping, schools, and transportation options, this upcoming BTO looks promising, especially for young families with children. Let’s take a look at how it fares in terms of residential fengshui.

In this article, we’ll take an in-depth home fengshui analysis on Jurong Arcadia to assess its fengshui qualities. Read on!

Jurong Arcadia: Landform fengshui

Bounded by Jurong West Street 42 and the Jurong River, Jurong Arcadia sits on the Western Dragon and belongs to the fengshui formation of “Land of the Flower Basket”. There are also a pair of “Golden Boy and Jade Girl” located respectively at Jurong East and Jurong West. Hence, long-time residents in Jurong tend to possess good looks and great talents. They would also be equipped with capabilities and growing wealth.

As Jurong, especially Jurong East, favours innovative and creative industries, those who are working in creative-related businesses and educational institutions will do well here. Families and singles looking to strive in their career, especially females, can also consider this area.

Romance luck abounds in Jurong and singles can look forward to finding their ideal partners. Nonetheless, caution is needed to avoid love tragedies. In particular, married people must practise faithfulness, or one will share the same fate as the golden boy and jade girl who remain separated.

Internal fengshui considerations

When it comes to choosing an ideal unit, keep in mind that the main orientation of a house will directly influence the overall luck of its residents. The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can typically be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.

Jurong Arcadia comprises 6 residential blocks of 2- room Flexi, 3-, 4-, and 5-room flats, which are 17 storeys high. In total, there are 716 residential units here amidst various active and green spaces such as fitness stations, playgrounds, and a roof garden atop the Multi-Storey Car Park within the project.

Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in the upcoming Period 9 and 1 (years 2024 – 2063), and Northwest and Southeast are the second most auspicious directions. It is recommended to choose a unit that faces either of these directions or lies at the border of these directions to tap on the positive energies.

We have categorised the units at Jurong Arcadia under the Period 9 Auspicious Home Ranking chart, as listed below.

All units at Jurong Arcadia face the most favourable direction of North or South in Period 9. Nonetheless, some units have the problem of door facing door. If main doors are facing each other, there will be direct conflicting energy, which is unfavourable for both households. In such a situation, homeowners can place a round light in between the two doors, or to hang a Super 5 Shield at the top of your door frame.

Also, do note that there is no fixed lucky direction that caters to everyone. If in doubt, you may like to leave it to the professionals. Way Fengshui provides end-to-end fengshui services from selecting an ideal unit to helping you create a harmonious environment in your new home.

External fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a new home.

Although Jurong Arcadia is located in a non-mature town, it offers easy accessibility to nearby food, shopping, schools, and transportation options. In fact, it even boasts a supermarket, an eating house, a residents’ network, and a preschool within the BTO development.

While this spells convenience, residents can expect noises and heavier traffic during peak hours. Homeowners who are at the outer stacks of Jurong Arcadia overlooking the Pan-island expressway (PIE), are likely to experience traffic noises too. To reduce noise disturbances at home, you may consider installing sound-proof windows or curtains and blinds.

The surrounding existing HDB blocks are slightly lower at a height of 12 storey but do take note of sharp edges pointed towards your potential home, as these are conflict points that are not ideal for homeowners. In such cases, it is recommended to consider another unit or seek advice from a professional fengshui practitioner.

Also, some people may have concerns about staying near places of worship. Based on the site plan, a Chinese temple is located next to Block 402C Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP), and some stacks at 402A are likely to face the temple. There is no definite answer as to whether the temple will cause negative influence to the fengshui of the residences. An on-site assessment for each unit is needed to determine the effects of the temple on the dwelling.

Lower floor units of stacks that are located near or directly face the MSCP may be subject to Sound Sha [声煞] and Light Sha [光煞]. This could cause disturbances to daily life such as insomnia. Therefore, those who choose a lower storey unit that faces the car park (i.e. stack 1203, 1205, 1221, 1223, 1231, 1247, 1249) are advised to a window blind. There’s a 6-storey multi-storey car park (MSCP) within the estate.

Lastly, there are two existing Bin Centres at each side of this BTO development. Stack 1241, 1243, 1245, 1247 and 1259 are located nearest to the Bin Centre. It is best to ensure that your front door (especially those on the lower floor units) does not face the Bin Centre directly, otherwise your house will be amongst the first to be affected by rubbish stench once the wind starts blowing.

Did you know?

Events and happenings within a space create energy vibrations that can either be positive or negative. These are not limited to indoor spaces, but could also be infused into the estate that you plan to live in. Hence, it makes sense to understand the history of your to-be neighbourhood, especially recent happenings that could leave traces of remnant energies.

Prior to selecting your house or flat, take a walk in the estate and take note of the features of surrounding buildings that may harbour threats of negative influences or hinder ventilation within your home. The main idea is to garner and ensure the smooth flow of positive Qi (energy) within your new home while avoiding Sha Qi (negative energies).

Sha Qi in the environment surrounding your home can manifest into loss of wealth, accidents, and sickness. If there are sharp edges pointed towards your potential home, then it is best to consider another unit or seek advice from a professional fengshui practitioner.

Some common obstructive landforms include sharp corners of nearby buildings, T-junctions, expressways, train stations, construction sites, etc. as well as buildings (i.e. bridges or subway tracks ) that are built too near to your block and create oppression.

Which fengshui BTO units to choose in Jurong Arcadia?

As with most things in life, getting it right from the start will save you lots of effort. More than just the correct placement of furniture or avoiding certain colours, home fengshui looks into compatibility amongst the homeowners and your living spaces.

Jurong Arcadia offers great convenience and all its units face the most favourable directions in Period 9. Nonetheless, in addition to selecting a unit that is auspicious in the reigning luck cycle, remember that the unit should also be in a direction that suits your bazi.
