Landform fengshui: Woodgrove Acres

Exterior fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a new home.
Located in a residential enclave, Woodgrove Acres enjoys a relatively quiet and tranquil environment with easy access to various eateries at The Woodgrove, just a short walking distance away. Young families or those with school-age children will be pleased to know that several primary schools lie within a 1 km radius. These schools include Fuchun Primary School, Innova Primary School, Si Ling Primary School and Woodgrove Primary School.
As we take a closer look, note that there is a T-junction towards Block 466A between Woodgrove Drive and Woodgrove Avenue. From a fengshui perspective, a T-junction represents potential Sha energy/poison arrow, where the fast-moving qi may collide with the residential premises, implying severe loss for homeowners in terms of career, health or wealth.
From a practical viewpoint, facing the end of a T-junction means more traffic, which means light pollution (from headlights of oncoming cars at night) and Sound Sha from the traffic. Lower floor units at Stack 661 and 663 are more susceptible to these disturbances and should take appropriate fengshui measures.
To the West of Woodgrove Acres is a site reserved for a church. From a fengshui perspective, places of worship are where devotees gather and pray, hence they will congregate a strong force of energy that may cause a qi imbalance to its surroundings. It is believed that facing the cross of a church directly is unfavourable for long-term dwellers. However, concluding the qi condition based on the place of worship alone is not an inclusive move.
To evaluate the auspiciousness of an area, one needs to consider factors like the house facing, distance from the church/temple, luck cycle of the residents, etc. Moreover, with so many people staying together within the blocks, the yang energy gathered is strong enough to ward off the yin energy from the place of worship. While there appears to be a sufficient buffer between Woodgrove Acres and the Seletar Expressway with a park in the middle, the rental units at Block 448A will be facing the expressway. These units may be subjected to constant vehicle movements that indicate Sound Sha [声煞] and Light Sha [光煞]. These disturbances could affect daily life, leading to insomnia. Woodgrove Acres is surrounded by several sites reserved for future high-rise residential development. This calls for caution against potential conflict points, as well as pollution and negative energies (Sha Qi) during the construction period.

Woodgrove Acres comprises five residential blocks with a total of 656 units of 2-room Flexi, 3-room, 4-room and 5-room flats that range from 15 to 19 storeys. Four of the blocks will include 261 rental flats, one of which is a full rental block.
Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in the Period 9 and 1 (years 2024 – 2063), and Northwest and Southeast are the second most auspicious directions.
