15 May 2024 marks an important day for Singapore as we welcome our new prime minister and fourth leader, Mr. Lawrence Wong, six decades after our nation gained independence.

Emerging from a crop of fourth-generation (4G) leaders, PM Wong has been described as a “strategic thinker, introverted yet approachable” in the eyes of those who worked with him. Could these be the qualities that propel this Marine Parade boy to become Singapore’s new Prime Minister?

Using Bazi, we shall delve into Mr. Lawrence Wong’s birth chart, to learn more about our new Prime Minister’s personality and life journey. Wondering if the stars play a part in his success and how he will fare in leading Singapore amidst rising risks? Read on!

What is Bazi

Bazi, also known as the Eight Characters or Four Pillars of Destiny, is a form of Chinese astrology that looks into the unique set of characteristics surrounding the date and hour of one’s birth, which can then be interpreted into life situations.

Bazi of PM Wong

Mr. Lawrence Wong was born in Singapore on 18 December 1972. Using his date of birth, we generated his Bazi chart using Way Fengshui’s free  Bazi  tool.

Yin Water [癸] Day Master: Gentle, nurturing, people first

From PM Wong’s Bazi chart, we identified his Day Master to be the Yin Water [癸]. Represented in nature by rain, clouds, mist, etc., Yin Water is gentle and giving. Just like how water nourishes soil and plants, people with the Yin Water Day Master tend to be gentle, nurturing, and inspiring.

They may appear unassuming, yet internally they possess a steadfast wisdom. With a discerning eye and delicate finesse, they excel at identifying and nurturing the potential within others.

That certainly sounds like our new Prime Minister, Mr. Lawrence Wong, who has been described as “a boss who has high standards yet is nurturing to those under his charge” by ex-colleagues. With his gentle disposition, he has also been recognised as a “people first MP” who sets aside time for his residents, despite wearing many hats.

Strong Water elements like previous prime ministers

People with a strong Water element are generally intelligent, frank, and possess a very good memory. An example would be the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s first Prime Minister.

Interestingly, PM Wong’s Bazi chart also reflects strong Water influence in his Month and Year pillars. Such strong Water elements certainly strengthen his Day Master, which is also known for qualities such as adaptability, enthusiasm, and determination.

An intellectual thinker who is adaptable and resilient

With its ability to change shape and its characteristics, Yin Water [癸] is an elemental type that recycles itself, e.g. creeks flowing into streams, rivers, and oceans; evaporating into clouds and then rain. People with the Yin Water Day Master are always active and moving. They are like chameleons, easily adapting to all situations.

Mr. Wong exhibited these traits of adaptability and calm resilience as he co-chaired the Multi-Ministry Taskforce on COVID-19 from 2020 to 2023 during the pandemic crisis. With his strong decision-making ability, he and his team effectively managed the pandemic while balancing the protection of both lives and livelihoods.

This spells positive for Singapore, as it shows our new PM possesses the innate qualities of standing firm while navigating our constantly evolving landscape amidst the fengshui  Period 9.

Yin Water [癸] people are also intellectual thinkers who can derive meaningful conclusions from their observations. In PM Wong’s Bazi chart, there is a combination of Yin and Yang Water elements, which further enhances his ability to assess matters from multiple perspectives while weighing the pros and cons.

The presence of several Yang Water elements also denotes a strong destiny with qualities of courage and perseverance. Born to an “ordinary family”, PM Wong was a neighbourhood schoolboy who rose through the ranks after starting his career in public service. Without perseverance and courage, could he have gotten to where he is today?

Interestingly, his Bazi chart reflects the presence of the Imposing Authority [七杀] in the Day pillar (similar to Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s birth chart), sometimes known by the literal translation: Seven Killings. This star is an authoritative star that reflects a dominant nature and strong fighting spirit.

With the Imposing Authority [七杀] in his chart, Lawrence Wong is likely a motivated and determined PM. A Bazi chart that reflects a combination of Yin Water, Yang Water, and the Imposing Authority [七杀] also hints at a leader with strength and empathy.

In a Bazi chart, having a good balance of the Five Elements is crucial. The Fire element, which represents wealth, is lacking in PM Wong’s chart. Nevertheless, his Chinese name is “黄循” – raising the possibility of his parents choosing the name with a wealth character to make up for the lacking element in his Bazi.

How Luck Pillars indicate luck, happenings and events

A Bazi chart can also reveal the lucky periods and cycles in one’s life. Based on PM Wong’s Bazi chart, his fortune and career started thriving as he entered the favourable Luck Pillar of 37 – 46 (丙辰) that reflects the Fire element.

Take note that Mr. Wong entered the Ministry of Finance in 2016 when he was 44 years old, rising through the ranks quickly. In that luck period, the Fire element [丙] indicates conventional wealth [正财], and the Earth element [辰] indicates the Proper Authority Star [正官]. For the uninitiated, the Proper Authority Star [正官] – also known as the Direct Officer – is a righteous and noble star, with a love for the people. It is often associated with traits such as honour, independence, stability, and uprightness.

Currently, PM Wong is in the Luck Pillar of 47 – 56 (丁巳), which also reflects favourable growth. His fortune will continue to thrive in the Luck Pillar of 57 – 66 (戊午), which shall be his best luck cycle. These three luck pillars reflect a favourable career formation “建禄格” deriving from the combined Wood and Fire elements. This also implies that PM Wong has the potential to lead Singapore’s economy to a new level.

2024 brings forth the presence of the Proper Authority Star [正官] in his Bazi chart, explaining his rise to the Prime Minister role this year. As he is currently in the Fire cycle, and the years 2025 and 2026 are also years of the Fire (Wealth) element, PM Wong is likely to lead Singapore’s economy to new heights.

15 May 2024: Analysing Bazi through the handover date

Similar to analysing the life destiny of an individual, Bazi can also be used to indicate events and happenings. By analysing the handover date and time, it is possible to infer PM Wong’s subsequent political performance.

Handover date and time: 8 pm on May 15th.

Challenging times ahead

Based on the handover date and time, it can be deduced that our new Prime Minister faces a challenging task ahead, as the Day Master conflicts with the Killing [杀] and Authority [官] stars of the Wood and Earth elements respectively. A conflict between the Wood [卯] element of the Day Branches and the Earth [己] element of the Day Stem is also noted.

Nevertheless, the Proper Authority [正官] and Imposing Authority [七杀] stars in the Bazi chart denote rational actions and the courage to forge ahead when necessary. In the month pillar, the Primary Resource [正印] star is identified, indicating detail-oriented thinking that gives rise to policies after careful consideration.

The Primary Resource [正印] star in the month pillar is often represented as a Mother’s love – very giving and generous, without asking for anything in return. People with this star in their chart have the innate qualities of foresight, wisdom, kindness, and a drive to do one’s best.

Interestingly, this Bazi chart analysing the handover event on 15 May 2024 is similar to that of all previous Prime Ministers of Singapore based on their date of handover. Is it a coincidence or could our government have taken reference in fengshui? That’s certainly food for thought.
