Most of you should be familiar with the epic tale Journey to the West, in which the Monkey God Sun Wukong uses his Golden Cudgel to produce magical transformations and battle demons. Legend goes that the golden cudgel was created by the Jade Emperor and placed in the East Sea to keep the sea calm, but what if we told you that Singapore has a golden cudgel too? Look at Swissôtel The Stamford and you’ll understand!

Standing tall near the sea and surrounded by important government buildings (such as Parliament House, the Supreme Court, and the Economic Development Board), the hotel’s tower undoubtedly acts like a golden cudgel stabilizing the energy of this area when analysed in terms of landscape feng shui.

Swissôtel The Stamford was designed by world-famous architect I. M. Pei and completed in 1986 as the world’s tallest hotel at the time. Apart from resembling the golden cudgel, it also looks like a tall stack of coins.
