So this is the SMRT Headquarters. No wonder…
The frequent MRT malfunctions might be the fault of man or machine, but we believe it has something to do with the feng shui of its headquarters.
If you ever visit the headquarters of BreadTalk® Group Limited, you’ll surely be mesmerized or even awed by its architecture. Whether you like it or not, the exterior of a building, especially one owned by a large corporation, speaks volumes about the company’s image and values. Despite this, there’s an important company here whose head office is thoroughly drab and unremarkable. Without keeping an eye out, passersby wouldn’t even realize that this building right at the junction of North Bridge Road is the SMRT headquarters! It doesn’t take long to see that the building’s design and colour scheme are pretty dull. The building’s main entrance is also difficult to find, and most people use the vehicle entrance or pedestrian entrance instead. Feng shui places great emphasis on wide and spacious halls in order to hold enough qi, and SMRT’s small entrances run counter to this principle. Compare this to Capitol Building just opposite: while it faces the East where luck is deteriorating, the building’s elegant and timeless façade is able to receive the qi from North Bridge Road andStamford Road, to the extent that Capitol Building even received government support and funding for its recent refurbishment. The frequent malfunctions suffered by SMRT have been confirmed to be caused by inadequate maintenance, and service has been improving after enforcement of stricter maintenance standards by the authorities. Nevertheless, using feng shui could help to improve the company’s current situation and prospects for development. For instance, having a main entrance at the junction of North Bridge Road and Stamford Road would allow it to face the South – a prosperous direction in the future. The building would also be able to receive the qi from Stamford Road, hereby killing two birds with one stone.
