Tanglin Halt Courtyard, located within the Health District @ Queenstown in central Singapore, was launched under the Prime Location Public Housing (PLH) model in HDB’s February 2024 Build-To-Order (BTO) exercise. Let’s take an in-depth fengshui review on this upcoming BTO estate to assess its fengshui qualities and see what it has to offer beyond its prime location.

Note: The PLH model ensures that new public housing built in prime, central locations like the city centre and the Greater Southern Waterfront will remain affordable and accessible for Singaporeans. Learn more

Tanglin Halt Courtyard: Landform fengshui

Nestled between Commonwealth Drive and Tanglin Halt Road, Tanglin Halt Courtyard will be built on the site of the former Tanglin Halt Neighbourhood Centre. From a fengshui perspective, this new BTO development sits on the Western Dragon and falls under the fengshui formation of the “Land of White Horse”, characterised by enthusiasm and loyalty.

Long-time residents of the horse land shall benefit from its positive energies and attain success on their career front. However, one should not overlook the horse’s shortcomings such as being over-ambitious and lacking determination. The latter could result in failures and cause one to lose fighting spirit.

The energetic nature of the horse makes Queenstown an ideal place for business start-ups while those who wish to hold on to existing businesses may find it challenging.

Internal fengshui considerations

When it comes to choosing an ideal unit, keep in mind that the main orientation of a house will directly influence the overall luck of its residents. The house orientation refers to the facing of your house, which can typically be measured from the main entrance where qi flows in.

Tanglin Halt Courtyard features a total of 251 units of 2-room Flexi and 4-room flats in a 48-storey residential block seamlessly integrated with a range of amenities. These include a 2-storey market and hawker centre with a roof garden, a polyclinic, a preschool, and a residents’ network centre.

Based on fengshui analysis, North and South are the most auspicious directions in the upcoming Period 9 and 1 (years 2024 – 2063), and Northwest and Southeast are the second most auspicious directions. It is recommended to choose a unit that faces either of these directions or lies at the border of these directions to tap on the positive energies.

We have categorised the units at Tanglin Halt Courtyard under the Period 9 Auspicious Home Ranking chart, as listed below.

While all stacks face the most auspicious directions of Period 9, potential homeowners should note that there is no fixed lucky direction that caters to everyone. If in doubt, you may like to leave it to the professionals. Way Fengshui provides end-to-end fengshui services from selecting an ideal unit to helping you create a harmonious environment in your new home.

External fengshui considerations

As one’s external environment accounts for more than interior considerations, it is important to consider features of the surrounding space when selecting a new home.

Tanglin Halt Courtyard – named after existing mature trees in the area – promises nature amidst many amenities in Queenstown. As mentioned earlier, this new BTO development will be seamlessly integrated with amenities such as a hawker centre, preschool, residents’ network centre and a polyclinic – spelling great convenience!

However, staying near a polyclinic or hospital may cause some residents to feel uneasy, as these establishments are considered to be Yin in nature. In time to come, it is possible that the unease may result in physical and mental fatigue. Hence, homeowners should consider this before choosing a unit. It helps if your unit is on a higher floor. Also, polyclinics – unlike hospitals – don’t operate around the clock and noises would be kept within operating hours in the day.

Another point to note is that this prime district is undergoing redevelopment. Based on the BTO site plan, several sites surrounding Tanglin Halt Courtyard are reserved for future high-rise developments. This indicates potential conflict points, as well as pollution and negative energies (Sha Qi) during the construction period.

High-rise buildings in proximity present a potential risk of conflicts such as Tian Zhan Sha (home’s frontage facing an opening between two or more building structures that funnel negative energies), corner Sha (角煞) where sharp corners present hidden threats, etc. If you encounter such scenarios, you may display a pair of guardian lions or Six Emperor Coins emblem to ward off the negative energies. If in doubt, don’t hesitate to consult a professional  fengshui  master for appropriate fengshui measures.

Last but not least, stacks that are near or face the bin centre directly are not recommended (eg. stacks 104, 106). If your front door faces the Bin Centre directly, your house is likely to be amongst the first to be affected by rubbish stench once the wind starts blowing.

Did you know?

It is unadvisable to have your bedroom door facing the toilet door, and it’d be worse if your toilet door faces your bed directly. As the toilet is a place with moisture and stinky smell, the negative energy that flows directly into the bedroom due to inappropriate door positions will cause illness on bones and muscles. Over time, it may lead to a more serious illness as well as wealth loss.

In the case of Tanglin Halt Courtyard, the 4-room floor plan shows a toilet door facing a bedroom door directly. Homeowners may want to consider slight modifications to the layout or to seek advice from a professional fengshui practitioner for fengshui  remedies.

The position of your toilet and where it faces is very important. It should not be directly facing your main door, kitchen door, or the bedroom door (as mentioned earlier). Bear in mind that the toilet door is like a large hole, releasing negative energy, conflicting with the beneficial energy that enters via the main entrance, and it would affect your household members negatively.

Which fengshui BTO units to choose in Tanglin Halt Courtyard?

As with most things in life, getting it right from the start will save you lots of effort. More than just the correct placement of furniture or avoiding certain colours, home fengshui looks into compatibility amongst the homeowners and your living spaces.

Tanglin Halt Courtyard offers great convenience with its prime location and integration of amenities right at one’s doorsteps. On top of that, all stacks at this new BTO development are facing the most auspicious directions in Period 9.

On the other hand, this well-contained estate is likely to be subjected to higher human traffic and potential Sha. Aspiring BTO homeowners should keep in mind that your chosen unit should also be in a direction that suits your bazi. Residing in a suitable fengshui unit can help you to create a harmonious home, improve mood and energy, and attract opportunities and benefactors.
