5 Things You Should Not Do to The Stove in Your Kitchen for Good Fengshui

Kitchen

The stove.

The special place in our house where the magic happens. As a child, I would always be amazed by the delicious dishes my mother could concoct using boring-looking ingredients and a greasy wok. As a result, I’ve come to associate the stove with the image of mothers.

Now, for those of you who are well versed in Fengshui, you should be familiar with the concept stating how the stove represents “the female owner of the house”.

Hence, the state of the stove in your house represents the condition of your mother or wife. As such, here are some tips on the things you should not do to your stove to ensure harmony in the household.

1) Sharp objects around the stove

Avoid placing sharp objects above, below, or opposite the stove. These include, but are not limited to: knives, scissors, and forks.

Placing sharp objects at these locations may cause the female owner to become easily irritable, resulting in conflicts with other members of the family. This could eventually lead to unhappiness and disharmony within the household, affecting spousal relationships.

That being said, remember to always put your knives, scissors and forks back in the drawers where they belong!

2) Getting the support you need

To the female homeowners out there:

Are you getting the respect you deserve in the family?

Are your opinions and needs constantly being ignored or overlooked?

In that case, you should probably take a look at the wall behind your stove.

Ideally, the stove should have a solid backing. If your stove is right in front of a window, it will affect the status of the female owner in the family.

If possible, relocate your stove to somewhere with a solid wall or build a wall behind the stove to create a good backing for your stove.

3) Stove vs Sink

The relationship between the stove and the sink in your kitchen is something like Tom and Jerry’s- constantly at each other’s throats and more than happy leap at any opportunity to mess with the other party.

As such, you should never let the stove and the sink face each other in the kitchen as it denotes a clash between fire(stove) and water(sink) elements. Like a pair of squabbling kids, this will affect the overall well being of your family members, especially that of the female homeowner.

Now, unless you’re planning to renovate your house, relocating your sink and stove can be really troublesome. Place a potted plant(wood element) beside the sink instead to ameliorate the situation!

4) Stove vs stove

Time erodes everything- especially objects we use on a daily basis.

If your family sees a great deal of action inside the kitchen, you should not be unfamiliar with broken stoves. Growing up, I’ve seen the stove in my house being replaced twice.

However, some people might find it too troublesome to replace the stove and instead, end up with something like this:

In fengshui terms, placing stoves on top of each other is extremely detrimental to the health of the entire family, especially that of the female owner. Do make it a point to rectify the situation as soon as possible, lest your family be afflicted by ailments.

5) Stove and water drainage hole

Some houses have a water drainage hole right beneath their stove to facilitate cleaning. However, a drainage hole under the stove may cause the female homeowner to suffer from gastrointestinal problems.

To eliminate the negative effects, use a brick to cover the hole on an auspicious date. However, this should ideally be done with the help of a fengshui master as they can help pick the optimal setup, tailored to suit your various needs.

While the stove is seeing lesser action nowadays due to our busy lifestyle, it is still important to maintain its cleanliness. After all, a clean environment will make you feel comfortable and improve your overall mood. An oily or cluttered stove will only make your mood worse every time you look at it.
