Fengshui Review: Matilda Edge
Matilda Edge is one of many residential estates set to be completed in Punggol. Aside from standard amenities such as playgrounds and elderly corners, there is a rooftop garden atop its multi-storey carpark, helping fulfill Punggol’s vision of becoming an eco-town.
As this new residential project is located along Tampines Expressway (TPE), there have been concerns of excessive noise pollution. Curious to find out more, we sent Master Goh Guan Leong of Way Fengshui Group on-site to investigate the fengshui of Matilda Edge.
Punggol “Crab Suppressed by Rock” formation
Grand Master Tan describes Punggol as one of Singapore’s crab lands – symbolic of strength and vigour. Although highly driven to reach the top, the crab is prone to making rash decisions in its unyielding pursuit for success. Fortunately, it is held in place by a big rock. This means that residents in Punggol are controlled in their journey for progress, striking a harmonious balance at all times.
Additionally, the current Period 8 (2004 – 2023) favours the Northeast. This explains the rapid development of Punggol, which resides in the Northeast region of Singapore.
Majority of units face south and north
According to Master Goh, most units at Matilda Edge, especially those further from TPE, face south and north. The aforementioned two directions are deemed auspicious till 2063. Hence, when it is time to select your unit at Matilda Edge, remember to choose a flat that faces one of these two orientations.
Types of sha qi that residents should take note of
There are various types of conflicting forces that Matilda Edge residents will have to be aware of. Fortunately, there are remedies to alleviate the negative effects.
Corridor Sha
It is less than ideal to have your main door face a long and narrow corridor as incoming qi is stagnant. This means that residents might not be able to enjoy the full benefits of auspicious energies.
Sharp Edge Sha
With several high-rise buildings densely packed together, it results in the likelihood of encountering Sharp Edge Sha. This occurs when a residential unit faces the sharp edge of a neighbouring structure. Such negative energies can result in increased anxiety and inability to concentrate, which may affect career and academic development.
Constriction Sha
Master Goh observes that a number of residential blocks here are plagued by Constriction Sha. This conflict occurs when air currents between two buildings converge to charge at one being sandwiched in between. As residents open their windows for ventilation, they will introduce these inauspicious energies to their home. Affected parties may become listless and pessimistic.
Should the main door be in direct line of Constriction Sha, Master Goh recommends installing a partition or displaying plants at the entrance to deflect its flow.
Sound Sha
Another issue that Master Goh pinpoints is excessive Sound Sha caused by traffic from the neighbouring expressway (TPE) and from overhead planes. Unavoidable in Singapore’s concrete jungle, Sound Sha can increase stress and blood pressure levels. Worse still, it can even lead to insomnia.
To counter this, Master Goh proposes the use of soundproofing technology in one’s personal space, especially for bedrooms. Additionally, homeowners can install thick curtains to reduce noise levels.
Conclusion
With a majority of units facing auspicious directions and being located in Punggol, a land of thriving energies, Matilda Edge will be a decent place to live in. However, the excessive amounts of conflicting forces present, especially noise pollution from TPE, means that homeowners have to adopt remedies for peace of mind. From an overall perspective, families can strongly consider living in Matilda Edge.
