As with the discontinuation of work, there exist auspicious dates for the commencement of work. Choosing an auspicious date to start work can help bring about good fortune and improve your career luck for the year ahead!

As such, here are the things you should do during the door opening ceremony to ensure a smooth flowing year ahead!

Door opening ceremony

1) The first person to arrive at the office will unlock the door

2) All staff to gather around the office entrance during the auspicious hour

3) Key office personnel- usually someone belonging to management, will lead the door opening ceremony. Take note: if your Zodiac is in conflict with the day of the ceremony, you should not be the one opening the door.

4) Once the one leading the ceremony opens the door to the office, all office personnel are to shout auspicious phrases (Eg: Huat ah!)

5) Switch on all the lights and water features(if any).

6) Business owner to give all employees red packets to ensure a prosperous year ahead!

7) For the employees, remember to prepare two Mandarin Oranges and shower your boss and colleagues with auspicious phrases after receiving the red packet!

If your workplace does not observe the door opening ceremony, you can instead display two mandarin oranges on your work desk to help usher in good fortune. However, if possible, we strongly recommend the entire office to partake in the ceremony.
