First, let’s identify your Day Master. To do so, you need to have your Bazi chart, which you can get via Way Fengshui’s free Bazi calculator. Simply input your birth details (i.e. date and time of birth) and you will see something like this: 

The Day Master is reflected in the Day Stem of one’s Bazi chart, which is highlighted in brown. Based on the above Bazi chart, this person’s Day Master is represented by Wu (戊). In a relationship, this person is inclined to take on the role of The Trustworthy. Now, let’s find out the type of lover you are.

Jia (甲): The Upright

Just like sturdy trees with deep roots, individuals whose Day Master is Jia (甲) tend to hold firm values and are persistent in getting what they want. Loyal and trustworthy, The Upright lovers are someone to lean on, as they are practical and protective. 

On the flip side, they often lack attention to detail and can be very subjective and stubborn. A compatible partner would be one who possesses wits, creativity and patience.

Yi (乙): The Gentle

Characterised by “soft” wood such as creeping vines, flowers and plants, people whose Day Master is Yi (乙) are known to be The Gentle lovers. Beneath their charm lies quick wits and resilience, making them a partner you can count on.  

They are caring lovers who expect reciprocal attention, and may appear clingy to someone who is strongly independent. The ideal partner for The Gentle would be one who gives unconditionally. 

Bing (丙): The Energetic

For those whose Day Master is Bing (丙), they are like sunlight – direct, generous and passionate – aptly referred to as The Energetic. Their focus tends to be on people and relationships. 

While they are warm and selfless lovers, The Energetic often self-doubts and can be emotional, hence requiring a caring partner who can shower them with much attention and reassurance. 

Ding (丁): The Giver

The Giver, whose Day Master is Ding (丁), resembles the fickling flame of a candle. While they look mild on the surface, they can be warm, thoughtful and devoted – that is if you can get close to them. 

Trust does not come easily for The Giver, who can be fickle-minded at times. They appreciate a lover who demonstrates patience and perseverance. When they warm up, these meticulous beings can be very loving.   

Wu (戊): The Trustworthy

Akin to a mountain or massive solid rock, individuals whose Day Master is Wu (戊) are referred to as The Trustworthy. Honest, down-to-earth and persistent, their positive traits make them appear to be the perfect reliable partner in a relationship. 

Except that nobody is really perfect. The Trustworthy are not easily swayed and their procrastination often causes them to lose opportunities – including in love. They would need a partner of great strength and patience.

Ji (己): The Nurturer

Like the fertile soil that nurtures different living organisms, The Nurturer, whose Day Master, is Ji (己) tends to be very accommodating and is highly adaptive. As lovers, they are patient and supportive – sometimes to the point of losing themselves.  

As they have an “anything works” mentality, they are often mistaken to lack their own opinions. This can be frustrating for a partner who seeks firm affirmation, but on the other hand, this can be liberating for daring dreamers.

Geng (庚): The Hero

Determined and potentially powerful, The Hero is represented by the Day Master Geng (庚), often associated with raw metals and minerals. They are loyal, responsible and can strive under pressure. This is a partner who can endure hardships with you. 

Nonetheless, The Hero can be hot-headed, proud and inflexible with their loner mentality. Prone to being judgemental, only a partner of equal or greater strength can gain their attention in the first place.

Xin (辛): The Classy

Resembling glittering metal and precious stones, those whose Day Master is Xin (辛) exudes exclusivity and are referred to as The Classy lovers. Charming and pure, they are sensitive individuals who take caution in choosing who they associate with. 

Being somewhat of a perfectionist, they can be over-sensitive and defensive at times. An accommodating lover who pays attention to details will gel well with The Classy who seeks the best in life.

Ren (壬): The Carefree

Gui (癸): The Adapter
