Making Heads Turn During the 7th Lunar Month? Here’s What You Need to Know…
Imagine the following scenario:
It’s the 7th Lunar month. You’ve been working overtime for the past few hours due to a senseless mistake on your colleague’s part. The sun has long since clocked out, and you’re just leaving the empty office building.
As you make your way to the elevator, the sound from each of your steps filled the corridor, lingering like echo in a dimly lit cave.
And then, you heard it.
A slightly muffled and coarse voice calling your name from behind.
What would you do?
Well, common sense dictates that we skedaddle. So allow me to rephrase that question.
What if the person calling your name sounds like your boss or manager? Should you risk turning your head, “extinguishing” your “flames” in the process? Or should you abscond, prioritising your well-being over your employment?
(Actually, please just turn around if you hear your boss or manager calling you. Seriously.)
As such, here are the things you should consider before you turn your head for anyone.
1) The flames on your body
Some people believe that humans have three “flames” above their shoulders and head. These “flames” are what that’s keeping malicious spirits away from you. Apparently, turning your head suddenly at night might extinguish said “flames”, leaving you vulnerable to spiritual possessions and attacks.
2) Deserted and unpopulated areas
While it should be perfectly fine for you to turn your head in a densely populated location at night, it’s still not a good idea for you to do so in an unpopulated area, simply for the reasons below.
1) The Yin energy is stronger at places with fewer people, increasing your chances of running into spirits.
2) Let’s assume that it’s not a spirit. Why would someone call out to you in a deserted location? Chances are, that’s someone with ill intentions who has been tailing you.
At times like these, head towards populated areas as quickly as possible for your own safety. Or seriously, just avoid places like these in the first place.
3) Take your time
If, for whatever reason, you would like to turn your head, be sure to take your time and turn around slowly. Here’s why:
1) Turn your head slowly to avoid extinguishing your “flames”, keeping you safe from malicious spirits.
2) Calm your heart and be prepared for whoever’s behind you. It would be awkward if it’s just a tourist trying to ask for directions and you’re freaking out, flailing your arms in his face.
Maintaining your composure is the first step in dealing with the unknown, so take a deep breath before anything else.
4) Practicality
Last but not least, let’s talk about the practicality of not turning your head.
I’m fairly certain that we’ll be called multiple times a day by our friends, family, and colleagues.
Even if you were to keep reminding yourself that you shouldn’t turn around during the 7th Lunar Month, chances are, you’ll eventually turn around accidentally since it’s a natural reaction.
Besides, if your boss is the one calling you from behind- well, it’s probably time for you to re-evaluate the value of your job.
In Conclusion:
Not turning your head is impractical no matter how we look at it, so it shouldn’t be observed at all times. Ultimately, it depends on your location and the situation you find yourself in. Don’t turn around if you feel like your life is in danger, and hastily make your way towards a crowded place.
